Re: jamaicacurl
Hey ladies! I hope all is well with everyone on this rainy Friday (for me anyways). No new hair news to report today. Just wng's. Gonna bun today since it's wet out.
I will probably be checking in less frequently over the next week or so due to lots of paperwork and crocheting that I have to do.
Have a great weekend!!

Wish I could click my heels 3 times and it will be Spring!!! My scalp is not happy! It's so dry and flaky! I'm going to put some EVCO on it tonight.
I also plan to straighten it on Thursday (first time since July '08!) because I'm going to NJ on Friday for the weekend. While I'm excited to go and surprise my dad for his birthday weekend (he's a valentine's baby), I'm not looking forward to the weather!! I'm most worried about my hair lol! I can't have flake city on my head!

I think it's West Orange (Bloomfield?)
Re: jamaicacurl
Do you think a clarifying treatment would help? I know you recently incorporated at least one new product in your regimen. Do you have any essential oils?
Just remember not to pull up the dry skin, it can cause more damage than good.

I'm glad you can remember these things Chrs! LOL I guess the newest products I've been using are the Elasta gel and once in a while I use the setting lotion spritz. No, I don't have any EOs.
It's so hard not to shake the flakes lol! But I will try!

Re: jamaicacurl
Thanks BBD! I scratched it too much last night and made a spot kind of sore :/
Well I slept with the EVCO on my scalp last night and this morning I clarified with some baking soda mixed in with my co-wash conditioner. I then did an ACV rinse and conditioned. I applied more conditioner as a leave in, plopped and went along my way. I didn't put any stylers in today. I think I am going to give my hair/scalp a break from stylers for right now and just use conditioner. Well, maybe a little mousse or gel in the ends for hold
Today I just left in the conditioner and it doesn't look horrible but it doesn't have the shine or hold it usually does.
This is after fluffing and applying a tad bit of Koils by Nature hair & body butter:
You can see how different areas do different things. It's been much more wavy on top lately (still haven't done a protein tx) but my roots are more curly and underneath is spiral curls as always. I'm hoping that after straightening it this week my curls will bounce back after a nice DT when I get back!

Re: jamaicacurl
Wow, you can really see how your hair texture changes from the roots to ends. Your hair looks great regardless!
Have you thought about not plopping? Here is what I think. If you do not plop your whole head, you may see tighter curls at the ends. You could try a diffuser at your roots to plump up the volume and dry it. Do you plop with your head down and kinda loosely place curls in center of material you use to plop? Are curls more defined from root to tip when wet?
Do you scrunch in your products at the ends of your hair before or after plopping? Try the opposite of what you are doing.
