Need help defining curls Empty Need help defining curls

Post by patmichele 28th May 2010, 1:50 am

I'm new to natural styles; about 2 weeks new [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] (haven't had a relaxer in over 10 yrs though). I don't have a lot of style ideas yet but have tried a twist out which i liked and have been doing wng for the past week. The wash n go is really easy and simple, but i've been using a gel (HH Totally Twisted) which is good, but makes my hair a kinda hard. I like softer curls and bigger hair (love the 2nd day wng look). Any suggestions on a product that will define my curl, give me some hold, and minimize shrinkage and frizz. Oh yeah and that won't break the bank? You can check out Curls Souffle, Curly Q Custard or Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I would also say check out the Bee Mine and Blended Beauty lines.

You can also check out treasured locks lock it up gel( I use it and it has great reviews), also Organics smooth n hold pudding, Koils by nature peppermint gel, and aloe vera gel.Eco styler also, but of course what works for one may not work for another...Good luck.. +1 on the Blended Beauty line....I use Blended Cutie Down and Out Styles (I guess its marketed as a kid's product)... its a cream styler so it wont leave crunch, but works wonders in defining curls and moisturizing hair.

and you can use it for twists!

For cheap products Eco styler gel. Put some oil underneath it for less crunch. Works for me!

Where can I find the Eco Styler gel? A lot of ladies say Walmart, but I guess my Walmart isn't hip to this product yet...lol...anywhere else sells the Eco Styler, and my Sally's didnt have the Olive Oil kind. I like soft curls but want great definition and moisture.....Thanks!

I've seen it at my local drugstores--CVS and Rite Aid.

Ok, so I got some...from Sally's, and I got the Olive Oil one....but it has a 10- Max Hold?? Is this normal? I brought it bc it was $3.29 for a 32oz jar. I couldn't resist, the PJ in me just wouldn't let me leave it alone...lol....so now I need to know how to use it without it becoming hard? Or does it not get hard even though it is a max holding gel.....HELP?!?!?!? lol
