Twist Out Fail Empty Twist Out Fail

Post by Mom2KurlyT 5th May 2010, 1:29 pm

I did a twist out on Saturday morning it was cute. Soft, shiny and bouncy curls/crinkles. But....that night I pineapple'd with little metal clips and a satin bonnet. The next morning it was a MESS! I had to wear a hat!!

Anyway, how could I have fixed my twist out? I am styling challenged when it comes to my hair and I wouldn't know where to begin to do a pin up. Can you post pics of some modified twist outs please? TIA!!

Here are some of my twist out pin up dos...

Pinned back on one side with hair candy

A two strand flat twist across the front to make a faux headband

A little hump in the top and pin the sides back

There is also a quick and easy style I've done on the blog today (5-5-2010)

What product did you use to do your two strand twist?

To preserve your twist out's have you all tried retwisting at night?

Twist Out Fail Empty Re: Twist Out Fail

I also had bad luck doing pineapples after successful twist-outs. I have to re-twist and roll every night to keep my curls and waves defined and frizz-free. I also re-apply a little oil most nights during my retwist.

Another thing was I had to learn to stop using leave-in conditioner! It dried my hair out something terrible and kept it looking frizzy and crazy. The coconut oil and some glycerin is all my hair needed.

Hope this helps!

Natural V and Natural addict is right, TAKE CAUTION with Twist outs it is not a low maintenance style, it takes daily care of re-twisting @ night however with a little practice you can retwist in 15-20 mins depends on the size of each section

Twist Out Fail Empty Re: Twist Out Fail

I should have retwisted. Well, I did retwist but I did like 6 big twists and it made it look even worse! I now know the error of my ways. Thanks so much!

Lynnie your hair is cute. I like the faux headband. Girl, you did that!

I used Cantu Leave In, coconut oil on my ends, and a little foam setting lotion. I was afraid about the hold since I'm only 9 weeks post relaxer. I'm still a newbie transitioner. But that first day it was looking awesome! I'll have to try again. I'll post pics too.
Thanks again!

I didn't realize you were still transitioning. Twist out are done different when you still have relaxed ends. When I did twist, I would put the entire twist on a perm rod. Meaning I would roll it up to the roots. I will post pics later. I am posting this from my Crackberry

You have the queen Helping you..all will be well shortly!

I am glad I came across this thread. I almost went to bed without retwisting. I would have been Hot in the morning!

Twist Out Fail Empty Finally 2nd Day Hair!!

Post by Mom2KurlyT 10th May 2010, 12:15 pm

Okay, I got 2nd Day Hair Y'all. But boy let me tell you, I had a rough night. I didn't retwist because my curls were so tight and I really liked it like that. I just pushed it up in the bonnet and slept on my chin! This hairstyle really is high maintenance, but it's cute!
