iri9109 :)
low-key i was so hype for the curl street journal section...idek why because my hair isnt even interesting right now (on account of the fact that i can only do one style lol) but hopefully i'll have more to write as my hair grows...
this is my hair last week...did a wash n go on monday and then on wednesday i *thought* i could put some twists in the front of my hair to stretch it a little bit...i was wrong lol they were so sickly looking and the left side of my hair does not believe in cooperating so i had to slick it down with some ecostlyer...i used raw shea and ecostlyer on dry hair then spritz with distilled water and sealed with coconut oil
wednesday:
thursday:
the front was all flat but i kinda like it
friday i just spritzed with water and whatever is in my spray bottle (i think its totally twisted, water, and AVG)
saturday (same as friday):
&then i picked/brushed it out later that day (HAM lol):
sunday i did a wash n go but i'm washing it later tonight so right now i'm pre-pooing with a hot olive oil treatment & then i'll probably DC with AOHSR

Re: its iri9109's nappiversary! kendall is officially 1!
ok so i saw JOME write her hair story in her journal and thought it was a good idea...
as a child i always had hair down my back and it was soooo thick...everybody said i had "Rudy Huxtable" hair lol. my mom does hair, but she specializes in braids/extensions so thats all i wore until i was like 11...and in between there i might get my hair pressed out for special occasions.
when i was going into the 6th grade i noticed all my black girl friends had straight hair, and my hair was poofy...i didnt like that...so i begged my mom for a relaxer and she let me get one...aside from the ocassional salon visit, or when my mom did my hair (once or twice a month?) i was left to fend for myself when it came to hair lol...i would wash my hair probably once a month with a sulfate shampoo...condition for 5 mins (maybe DC'd 3x a year lol) and then put grease and pink lotion on my hair and fry my it with the blowdryer...literally fry lol i would take the attachment off and run the metal part where the heat comes out ON my WET hair...) after that i would water/grease/jam/gel/slick my hair in a ponytail or bun everyday (sometimes with a side bang for extra flair lol ) and thats how i wore my hair for about 3 years lol...
oh lets not forget when i was in 7th or 8th grade i got a retouch...then a few days later colored my hair brown, but it came out too light so i colored it again THE SAME DAY a darker brown......but after a while in the sun it turned ORANGE! so i put rinses over it for almost a year & then i just dyed it jetblack...my hair was totally fried & died by then & my ends were horrible...
then when i was in high school i discovered the holy grail hair appliance : THE FLAT IRON...especially after i learned how to wrap my hair it was on and poppin!!! lol i used to wash/blowfry my hair then section out my hair and put gobs of bb super gro/ blue magic organics grease on my hair and then burn it with the flat iron...going over each piece atleast 3 times...if i wrapped my hair everynight i was good for atleast 2 weeks if not 3....even though i didnt manipulate it that often, my hair would break off as soon as it got a little past my shoulders.
last february i got a weave and when i took it out my hair was soooo damaged and broken off i could cry...but the dominicans came to the rescue, and though they were still frying my hair with all that heat, my hair did start to grow back in a couple of months.
last june i decided to get another weave for my graduation, and thats how i wore my hair for most of the summer. then in august i decided i didnt care about how long my hair was, so i got it cut short in an angled bob with the back tapered...it was fierce, im not gonna lie lol...but i live in buffalo and in the winter its COLDDDDDDDD. and i needed something to cover my head for the winter so i was in search of a good low maintenance weave. i was going to weave it up for the winter and then chop it off again in the summer... i started looking on BHM and LHCF to find the best remy weave brand and as i was searching, i saw so many ladies with long relaxed (but mostly texlaxed) and i was like i want to grow my hair out as long as i can...most of these ladies stretched their relaxers and only got them like 2x a year, so that was my initial plan...then after doing some more browsing and after just being sick and tired of burning my scalp and all the other stuff that comes with relaxers, i decided on december 25th (no real reason for that day, just happened like that & my last relaxer was on nov. 25th) that i didnt want a relaxer anymore...
in january i found curlynikki and that was the best thing that happened to my hair...i learned about cowashing and moisturizing (which i never did before, besides slapping on the pink lotion =/ ) and all the different oils to use and just taking care of natural hair in general...and that was when i decided not to use direct heat on my hair too
i transitioned for 4 months & through out my transition i wore roller sets, micros, and kinky twists, but since it was winter and i couldnt put my hair in a ponytail when it was out, i mostly just covered it with a beanie. on march 25th i BCd and each day i'm growing to love my hair more (even tho she doesnt like to cooperate all the time lol)...i care about the health of my hair primarily, but i would love to have APL unstretched hair one day
and even tho my mom didnt support me during the start of my transition, she decided to go natural too and even let me do her BC
without CurlyNikki's informative posts (as well as stalking Lynnie, Sweetdrk1, and every1 elses BnB lol) i dont know where i would be so me & Kendall thank all of you ladies
