Haven't had a relaxer in 4mos!
Hello Ladies,
I'm very excited about the 12mos of transitioning pics! Nikki, great idea! This will definitely help with the motivation and also the curiosity of what's yet to come!
So to give a lil background info, i'm relatively new to the CN Community and have gained an incredible amount of knowledge since joining. I wish someone had told me about this 2yrs. ago when i started my first attempt at going natural but got discouraged. This will be my second attempt at going natural. The first time i tried was about 2 years ago and got to a point where i didn't know what to do with the new growth i had accumulated over a year & 1/2 of being relaxer free. With no information or knowledge as to how to care for my hair i got frustrated and put the relaxer back in. Biggest regret now! I'm not sure how long i want to transition for and i'm already getting very anxious! My last relaxer was this past January 2010. I have alot of new growth already, but would like to have some length b4 i BC. So i will continue to post pics each month to help document my transitioning journey. Stay Tuned.......... but in the meantime, below are my first pics of my new growth since my last relaxer back in January.

I have not had a perm since January 9, 2010. I have been wearing twist outs and bantu knot outs. My new growth is coming in like wild flowers!!! I am enjoying styling my hair and am pleased with the products I use. I am currently washing my hair once a week, sometimes with shampoo by Komaza Hair for transitioners or I will only do a no poo, it just depends. I deep condition with Komaza products for transitioners. Recently, just bought Bee Mines curly butter and growth serum, the curly butter allows me to comb my new growth without incident. I purchased raw shea butter hair mist from Afrikan Republic, smells good and works!!! Below are pictures I took of a twist out I did on Sunday and all I have had to do is put on my satin bonnet at night. In the morning, I spray with daily shea butter mist and add curly butter if needed. Then I go!!!

Re: 4 Months Post Relaxer
Wow! This is a great idea. I only wish I had looked at the site earlier today b/c I just flat ironed my hair so I could trim the ends. I will definitely post some pictures after I co-wash this weekend. I have not relaxed my hair since Dec. 20, 2009 and I am learning to work with and appreciate my natural hair more and more each day. I have learned so much in the short time I have been on CN! Thanks Nikki and all those who have contributed !

I think all of you ladies look great, I am along the same timeline as the rest of you. I am both excited and sometimes frustrated by the process, but I am so glad for these pictures I think they will help.

Hi Ladies, I think you all look great! I'm a little ahead of you and still going strong.
Letha, I've been steaming as well...it keeps my hair moisturized.

Re: 4 Months Post Relaxer
Hey Mrsmackey! How is the transition going? Sorry it took so long to respond but, I accidently clicked the button to stop watching this post. We are 5 months now. I think I am going to cut off another inch or so of my hair soon because my relaxed ends are driving my crazy! They won't hold anything! I've tried braid outs, twist outs, bantu knot outs but they only last 1/2 a day if they turn out right in the first place.
@Pinkpearls-what is steaming and how do you do it?

Thanx!! Although, I really don't like the Kinky curly custard b/c it flakes horribly when dry.

Re: 4 Months Post Relaxer
Hi, I just reached 4 months (16 weeks) of transitioning today. Nice to meet you all!
Question: has anyone used the Ecostyler yet? I was thinking of getting it today. Is it better than Kinky Curly Custard? I do know that it is a lot cheaper. But is it better? Thanks!

I TRIED THEM BOTH AND I ACTUALLY GET BETTER RESULTS THAN KCC. I DONT LIKE IT (ECO) ONLY BECAUSE IT GIVES MY HAIR A CRUNCH

Tired of the blow out and flat iron
Hi everyone!! All the pics look great and they are really encouraging me to continue with this process. My last perm was some time in February, so I've been transitioning for about 4 months now. I need some recommendations as to what products I should try. Typically I've been blow drying and flat ironing my hair because I don't really know what to do with it. Looking at all these pics makes me wanna try a twist-out. I'm really excited, but would like some advice. Please help!!
