What to do when you don't like your style
Hey Ladies,
I did a coil out last night/this morning and I'm not fond of the look. It took me an hour to coil my hair, and about an hour and a half to separate the coils. What do you do when it takes you a long time to style your hair and you don't like it? Do you just wash it out, or do you make it work for a few days?
Thanks,
Ms. Barbara

I always try to re-coup some of my time...a cute scarf or headband, maybe?

Re: What to do when you don't like your style
(Before my second BC, I washed it out and threw a headband on it. I was lazy like that.
Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I try adding a headband, or a cute clip to pin back some of my hair. On my worst, most give up days, I'll pick it out and wear a puff, but if I don't have time for that, I'll just wrap it, Erykah style.

Thanks, Ladies! I decided to post some pics of my before and after
coil-out. I got a lot of compliments on it, but I still prefer my
curly afro.

Your coil-out looks cute. What didn't you like about it?
When I'm not feeling my 'do I usually throw a headband/scarf/nylon around it and turn it into a puff.

bmart, it is cute. If I wasn't so hair lazy I would try one myself.
Re: What to do when you don't like your style
Spritz shake and throw a band on it. Sometimes just pin it.

Thanks Ladies,
I think I just don't like the tight curls. Maybe when my hair is longer I'll like it more. I think they make me look like I'm trying hard to look younger. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I'm rocking them, though, at least until Wednesday!

BUT YOU ARE YOUNG!! I had to do a double take! I was like "She's not really 47!!". You look great!
Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I love your results!!! So cute!!!
I usually do some type of pin up/pin the front back 'do. My "go to style" is a puff.

Awww, thanks LadyMika! Yep, I will be 48 next month! My face doesn't show it, but my body feels it! LOL.
Thanks Lynnieluve. I think I am going to spritz them a little tonight and see what result I get. My coworker told me I look like I have "pick-a-ninny's" all over my head. Oh, well, that's her opinion!

@ bmart I like the coil results. If I don't like a style, my go to style is a puff!

I agree with Mika (that's my sis' name [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] )...you look at least 10 years younger! The coils look nice, maybe try picking them out so its really curl fro?

@streda - you know how I am about my hair! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
@lena73 - Thanks! Yeah, I think I'm going to pin up the sides tomorrow, then pick it out for Wednesday.

Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I actually washed my last coil out. But didn't comb out so I wouldn't disturb it. Then laid the edges down with a gel and made it into a puff. I really liked the result. It wasn't so tight and was like a curl fro puff. I liked this better than the coils because they're always mistaken for dreads.

Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I think it looks great! I wish I could get my hair to do that. I don't think it's long enough. And just ignore your coworker. Probably wishing she could rock that look. :~}

Re: What to do when you don't like your style
When a style doesn't work, I'll pin it up or pull it back into a ponytail or bun.
I like your coils and coil out.

Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I would have lost it right there...some folks just don't know how NOT to be inappropriate and rudebmart40906 wrote:My coworker told me I look like I have "pick-a-ninny's" all over my head. Oh, well, that's her opinion!
As for your hair. I think it looks great. The natural women in my church that are around your age wear their hair like that all the time and I love it. Everyone here is telling you the truth. BTW, you look great!
We are our own worst critics.
Re: What to do when you don't like your style
When I don't like my style, I will usually pull it back into a puff w/ an ouchless band, or use a scarf to pull it back.
Re: What to do when you don't like your style
I make it work. More hair than time to start over. Thank God for hairbands, barettes and scarves [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
