Hello Ladies:

I recently visited Curltopia salon in Smyrna. Who has heard of it? What were your experiences? I wrote my review and posted a pic of my post GISELLE (my stylist) styling on my hair. Also, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a meet up where we would have local "natural" stylist be featured at the meet up to do complimentary or nominal fee demonstrations (e.g. trims, product demos, finger styling)? Holla back if that is of interest to ATL sisters and this may be a spark for other cities. Just thinking....I'd appreciate your feedback as to my review.

I love the site and I would love to find out if you are still going to Curltopia. I went to there site and did not see a bio about her on the About page. I am looking for a great stylist and would love your input.

I visited Curltopia in February for a cut. I self BC'ed and needed a professional to fix a few uneven spots. Giselle was my stylist as well. She did a great job and was very personable. However, I don't think she is with Curltopia any longer.

The salon itself is great; the decor is lovely and everyone seems to be friendly.

My only complaint: I bought an 8oz jar of Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercream and shortly after, 2 days later, I realized that the product contained petroleum and other ingredients I prefer not to use. The salon would not allow me to return or exchange the product. That was rather disappointing. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I would think that a salon would recognize that some products may not work for their clients and offer them some sort of solution.

I think your meet up idea is great.! If Giselle will be there...sign me up!

Patron Review: CURLTOPIA SALON (METRO ATLANTA) Empty Giselle's New Contact Info

Post by WarriorPrincess 30th July 2010, 8:03 pm

Oh so sorry ladies:

I don't get in here to comment so often. I pretty much get caught up on the main page when I do stop by.

Okay, here is the new contact information on Giselle. She did leave Curltopia (good terms) to start her own thing. Her new salon is called Salon Au Naturel. I saw her last in May. Very nice professional vibe. She has great products and she surprised me by using the Mixed Chicks Brand on my hair. I was surprised as I'm not a mixed chic. I've encouraged her to look into doing henna treatments as I saw Henna For Hair was marketing to salons now.

I love what she has going on....as she seems to be marketing herself to not just "black" hair but to all kinds of Curlies. Although, I do my hair mostly myself, I keep her in my pocket for my as needed trims and special styling when I want to treat myself. It's a place I know I can go and know I'll get quality product and knowledge for my hair. She's intuitive on what products to use on my hair and I trust her to experiment with me. For my hair was feeling the mixed chics stuff. So her intuition was right! She is also a color specialist. Team Giselle!
