Work Dilemma

I currently have my hair in a high side bun with a little hair hanging down my face. I meet my mentor for the first time tomorrow and I am considering washing my hair and flat ironing it. Am I making a big deal about it unnecesarily [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ? You only have one chance to make a first impression.

Even if I don't flat iron it...I think I will feel more comfortable with my hair down. I work for the bank and some of these folks are very conservative (although my office is LAID BACK)

u can still be conservative with ur hair in its natural state

Thanks dajewel! I think I might just pull the bun down to the back of my head and call it a day. Maybe it being so high up and off to the side is giving me that uneasy feeling.

check out tiashauntee's fotki/blog/bnb thread for cute bun styles. experimenting with those kinds of styles can make you feel creative and less self-conscious about what people are thinking of your hair.

I say dont flat iron it. Think about the 2nd and 3rd time you see your mentor....you hair will probably be in its natural state. I think a low bum will be nice.

Be yourself. There has been many times when my hair broke the ice.

@Lynn-you are right. She might not see my hair flat ironed for a LONG WHILE! Especially with the summer time approaching (in my head the summer time is right around the corner, LOL).

I have bible study tonight and by the time I get home it will be 8:30ish. I am not going to start washing my hair that late . Therefore, I plan to put the bun down and keep it moving.

Spring/Summer is right around the corner in my mind too. I cant wait!! I am ready to order my Oyin Handmade again. That's my summertime products!

Update- well ladies I didn't wash my hair. I put the bun down low and off to the side. IT LOOKS GREAT! I LOVE IT. Here is a pic at the office taken on with my phone.

Great bun. I agree with Tia. Be yourself and do what makes you feel comfortable and not appeasing someone else. Your hair looks terrific.
