The blowout look Empty The blowout look

Post by tiashaunteé 19th January 2010, 5:07 pm

See this post on BGLH: http://bglhonline.com/2010/01/monique/

I LOVE her hair and I want to try that style for a VDay party DH and I will be attending next month. Here's the dilemma---I have never done anything like this (on purpose). So I don't know where I should start with achieving this look. Any ideas/suggestions?

I have a couple of questions first. Have you ever let your hair air dry with just leave in? If so, was your hair similar to hers?

I don't use leave ins, but yes I have let my hair air dry out and loose.
This is picked out (no blow dryer):

I learned to manipulate my hair to resemble some different curl patterns

My hair more or less looks like that today (just shorter and with a little bump on the ends), but it was a result of playing in my hair. I did my routine and then put my hair in rollers to stretch, then blow dried with a paddle brush. It made my hair big, but it was sleek too.

Wow, your blow out looks great! From the looks of your picture, you have developed a method for a fantastic blowout. I think the key is to let hair mostly air dry then use a cool or warm setting to dry the roots to add volume and style.

You never cease to amaze me. I did not think your texture would allow you to have such a fierce blow out--LOVE IT. You have inspired me yet again. I may try to a blow out next fall.

I do not mean to guano on your post but how did you get the look?

I am thinking about stretching with some jumbo braids...like two cornrows on each side. I need to get a paddle brush...I am sure I will need it this summer anyway

@tiashauntee: I love the paddle brush because of how big my hair can be. I think it will be useful for you not matter how you choose to set it. Your picked out fro is gorgeous tho.

I meant to tell u this a while ago that you look so similar to my mom lol.

First, LOL!!!!! I just Google "guano"....funny. I am going to start using that.

The pic I posted is really old, I think it's from 2006. I basically used my fist pick (yup I have one) and picked out my hair dry. My hair is weird, if I pull on it when it dry it will elongate.

We might be related, LOL. I met a cousin that way. She kept telling me I looked like her cousin...come to find out her cousin was my first cousin.
Then DH kept telling me I reminded him of one of his close female friends....years later we find out we are second cousins....it's a small world.

I wouldn't be surprised either. I don't know any of my mom's dad's side, who she apparently resembles...

Hey Tia,

I did a "blow-out" without heat last month by brushing my hair straight back with a denman brush while it was soaking wet in the shower and coated with conditioner. All of the extra conditioner that was in my hair pretty much fell to the shower floor while brushing, so I didn't have too, too much conditioner left in my hair. Anyway, after that, I put a silk scarf on my hair after blotting out the excess water with a t-shirt. I made sure to put the scarf on as tight as I could stand it, and let it dry under the scarf for about 7 hours. When I removed the scarf, my hair was flat, stretched, fluffy, and blown out! I must post a pic when I get home.

I will be looking for it! Do you think it can be done easily on hair my length?

I got the idea from a YouTuber, but I can't remember her name. Her hair was just as long as yours, so she wrapped her hair and tied it down. You might want to do a test run first to see if it works! I'm thinking that you could part your hair on the side, then start wrapping it around your head. How about trying to find that video until I get home to try with you. I can't access YouTube from work. Search under "blow-out without heat"...

Thank you! I was having the hardest time finding it. The only thing I came across was a mom banding a 6yrs hair....which that may also work, lol
