Me too LynnieLuv - I love that coconut oil. I just have to be sure NOT to get it on my face. The bumps are out of control lately...

traveljunkie08 wrote:So ladies, for the last couple of days, I've been wearing a chunky twist out (I did my hair on Saturday). Today would have been day 3 of wearing the style but after unraveling the twists, I decided it was a no go. It was frizzy (I only styled w/ KBB hair milk) and just didn't look right. I started racking my brain trying to figure out how to style my hair w/o re-washing it because I needed to leave, and then it came to me: IntelligentBeauty's Rosa Parks roll!
Several minutes and several bobby pins later, this is what I came up with:
I think it turned out pretty well. I had a hard time making the back as neat as IntelligentBeauty's, but I'll keep practicing!
This evening, I decided to wash my hair and try to slick it back into a ponytail. Not sure if I used to much gel or what but I got this icky white stuff in my hair and had to co-wash again. So I'm sitting here with a flour sack towel on my head (thanks for the info about these, ChrsLvsBks!!!) trying to figure out what to do with it. The good news is since I co-washed 2x tonight and DCd, I can mark two more products off my "use your stash" list.
You go girl!!!! It looks cute

@Lynn & Cory: I would have given it away, but it wasn't worth it. I hope it was the culprit, but even if it wasn't, I'm glad to get rid of it.

Re: **traveljunkie08**
In an effort to soothe my itchy scalp and to wet my hair so I could re-style it, I decided to co-wash my hair today. I never really felt 100% comfortable with co-washing and I wonder if that contributed to my itchies as well, so decided to do something a little different. I rinsed my hair with warm water and massaged my scalp with my fingertips for several minutes. I then applied conditioner to the length of my hair only. I didn't use any on my scalp. The conditioner I used was Klorane. It's a French brand that I picked up in Argentina for super cheap. It was so watery and light. It didn't do much for my hair, but it smelled good. The tube was only 5oz, which means I had to use the whole thing to try to finger detangle my hair. I rinsed out the conditioner, then applied KBB Hair Milk in Egyptian Musk (more about that later) and did two flat twists while I was in the shower. This is what they look like:
I have no idea what it's going to look like when it's dry. Only time will tell. I have a flour sack towel on my head to help catch any drippies and excess water.
When I co-wash in the future, I will do it like I did today. Conditioner on hair only, not on scalp. I'm also going to go back to shampooing once a week.
Also, I received my KBB hair milk today. I decided to try scents this time, so I got Chamomile Sage and Egyptian Musk. They're both light scents. Not too overpowering, but the Egyptian Musk is lingering a little too long for me. I'll stick with unscented in the future. The consistency of both hair milks is VERY different than the sample I had. They are very runny and watery and my sample was much thicker. I'm going to email customer service to see what up wit dat (I that SNL skit).

My KBB body butter is in Chamomile Sage. That scent had to grow on me but I like it now.

Thanks sweet! I'm glad the itchies are gone too! It was driving my nuts. Thank goodness for benadryl.
@Lynn: Hopefully I won't mind the chamomile sage once I use it, but this Egyptian Musk is becoming annoying.

Lady, I love the curly fro on you. The Rosa Parks roll (Intelligentbeauty inspired) turned out really nicely.
Man, I would rush to get to your trash with the other ladies for the EVCO.
As far as flour sacks, they are great at absorbing moisture and do not snag or pull your hair like cotton towels. Our curls are fragile so we have to take extra precautions to not damage them. To add to that, they are inexpensive.

@Free: Thanks!!!
@Chrs: They are VERY inexpensive. I wish I knew about them before I bought my microfiber towels. I actually like the flour sacks much better. Don't know why, but they seem to absorb the excess moisture faster.

Re: **traveljunkie08**
Well ladies, I sent my KBB back today. The Egyptian Musk scent was making me sick to my stomach...literally. I had a headache and was nauseous from the smell. I've learned my lesson. Unscented for me from now on.
I didn't do anything with my hair today. I just left it in the two flat twists and put on a hat. I took my nephews to see the Alvin & The Chipmunks movie (they had another snow day today) and we had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. While we were at the mall, I stopped in Forever 21 again. That makes two times in one week. I have a new obsession. I'm going to have to put myself on a no buy challenge for accessories. I bought these:
They were $1.50 for two. I got them in purple, red and pink. The bobby pin could be damaging if you're not careful.
On my visit to Forever 21 earlier in the week, I bought these:
They were $4.80 for two. I also bought something similar to this:
But they were tan and off white, and $3.80 for two.
So if you haven't been to Forever 21 yet, check them out!

@Vmichelle: They have beanies galore. So you'll def find something.
@Lynn: That's too bad. I'd offer to send you some stuff but the shipping would be more than the accessories are worth.
@Erica: I know! It's like I have to buy SOMETHING! No more accessories for me.

@Chrs: Yeah, I'm about to get a grip on my hair obsession.
@Intelligent: I think those two are my faves also. I'll be wearing them this week!
@CKF: Yeah I did the curly fro with 12-16 twists. I took the twists down when they were still a little damp, so that's how I was able to get my hair even bigger.

Re: **traveljunkie08**
Today (January 11) is the three month anniversary of my BC. My how time flies!
I've decided to make a few changes to my regimen. I'll try this out through the end of the month and see what happens. I don't anticipate that this change will cause any harm to my hair. I just want to make sure it stays moisturized with the new regimen since I won't be co-washing as much. So, here's what I'm going to do once a week:
1. Apply DC to dry hair in 6 sections and twist each section. Cover hair w/ foil cap and towel, and leave on for 15 minutes.
2. Detangle each section w/ fingers first, then wide tooth comb and re-twist.
3. Rinse hair w/ warm water for a couple of minutes. Apply shampoo to scalp and massage w/ fingertips. Untwist hair and rinse. Apply leave-in conditioner, re-twist and cover w/ shower cap. Repeat for all sections.
4. Allow hair to dry until damp.
5. Apply sealer/styling product to each section, then style as desired.
I did this today, and it worked out really well. It was easy to do and I think it saved me a little time in the shower. I will co-wash as needed, but hopefully that won't be more than 1x a week. I'm also going to be consistent with the products I use through the end of the month.
DC: AO WC, HSR (mixed w/ EVOO) and GPB
Shampoo: AO WC (I'm not sure why their shampoos get a bad wrap. It worked great for me. I had every intention of giving it away, but I'm adding it back into my stash. )
Leave-in: Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin Conditioner
Sealer/Styler: QB AOHC (I think it has enough hold to do both.)
Twist Removal/Shine: KBB hair oil
If this routine holds up, I won't be buying any products for a while...
