Hi Ladies (and gents if you're here)

I'm going to a natural hair salon next week to get two strand twists. I would do them myself but after many attempts my hair turns out looking not so good. Since I'm going to spend the money for the twists what are some of the best practices I should be aware of when it comes to washing, styling and sleeping on my twists?

I want my twists to stay in as long as possible but realize I have no clue on how to make that happen.

Please help!

Ok, this is how I care for my two strand twists. I hope it helps:
When I have them in for a while, I like to rinse them in the shower. I don't apply any product I just let the water run through and then squeeze them dry.

I sleep in a bonnet but I do need to make more of an effort to keep them from flattening

The style options depend on your creativity. Some of the ways I have worn my twists are here: http://public.fotki.com/RBGchick/hair-styles/twiststwist-outs/

Thanks Tiashauntee! I was def wondering about the washing routine. I will give that a try and see how things go. I see you have a couple different updos, are your twists already styled like that or do you do that yourself?

And I second Intelligentbeauty your hair is gorgeous [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I do them all myself. I have had one too many bad experiences at Salons so I don't go back anymore. I force myself to learn how to do styles I like
