@NylaCoils I know but I am new to this henna thang, that I am a bit nervous and don't want to make any mistakes [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Once I become a pro at hennaing like you I will feel just as confident. Thanks for the support [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Maricopa wrote:@CurlyMo fyi today I found Jamila Henna at a local Indian grocery store, the name of the store is "Patel Brothers" it is a chain store and it may be in your city/area. The henna was amazingly priced @ 1.99 a box. which is great ant no shipping charges. Do a internet search for a possible location near you.

I pay the same thing for my Jamila henna! For a 100 grams, and I mix it with reshna henna which is 2.99 for 200 grams. :-D I'm so happy I found stores near my school, because I was so reluctant in buying henna online knowing there was a store near me for cheaper.

yea I was thinking of maybe buying it for people and shipping it out for them, like henna and african shea butter, mango butter or coco butter.. I'm not sure though because I don't have access to postage since I live on a school campus :-/

Well it has to do with the crop it should be 2008-2009 for freshness it goes on better and you get better results....When it's in foil its more expensive as well....

It may be old crop why its so cheap..Take a look the next time and post if you get a chance..

Thanks

Hi CurlyMo,
Could you give me the recipe you use when you mix in hibiscus flowers and lemon juice in your Amla powder?

The whole crop things - to me is a load of crap! I dont trust much coming out of the middle east especially after watching Good Hair- The people are told that they are donating their hair to GOD, when it reality it is coming over here to be placed on tracks or wigs!

For that reason alone, I dont trust that there is much difference in the crop. It has been my experience that HENNA is HENNA. Some of them rinse out good and some take a little longer. They all give my hair the same color. It doesn't affect how my hair feels. My hair feels the same after each treatment

Went to the Indian Grocery and found some Herbal Henna + plus. The box reads.....Mehendi blended with Amla Brahmi, Shikakai, Mahabringraj, Tannin etc. Says its for hair colouring and conditioning. Oh and Now Added With Coffee. I'm not new to Henna but only used the one that doesn't change hair color I want to give this a try hoping I get a nice light brown. This box also says Export Quility its 100grams and the date reads 09,it cost me $1.99 which is ok by me, I like cheap. I guess I'll see what happens it says to let sit for 3hrs. Hope all goes well!!

BTW are you looking for a dark tone? The Amla, Coffee, and Brahmi will make the color dark...

You can also try Henna and then do a Indigo over it to get it dark...I did this on my mom she was all white the Henna turned her hair brick red eeww..I then did an Indigo treatment over it and she got a really nice light brown it looks great now..

Im trying to get a deep dark red and i cant, i've tried everything Paprikka in my Henna , Hibiscus Flower in my Henna, eeeeerrrrr

naturalhonney- I cant do the egg in my mix- protein sensitive- my hair would feel like brick!!! No

My mix is simple- plain yogurt and henna. Mix is creamy like a perm- no runnny mix for me!

@ CurlyMo I was actually trying to lighten it up to a nice shade of brown almost an ash brown I think, can't really describe it but I've seen it. The man in the store told me I would get a a little red and brown but more brown think I'm going to do that strand test rather than cross my fingers and hope for the best. Your moms hair sounds really nice if I mess this up I will have to try your way and I've seen some really nice reds so don't quit you'll get it!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Oh I know now, if you think of a honey brown thats more like the color I want I've seen the color on the regular hair dyes but can't obtain it.

@ NylaCoils I don't normally add protein to my hair but wanted to see how I did with it. My hair has the tendency to withstand anything I put it through (knock on wood)lol. My consistancy is pretty nice I don't like runny mixes either. Can you tell me your hair color and what shade you get with your henna mix?
