Re: Quick Question on Shampoo
cleansing i think its a regular shampoo with sulfate or sulfate free / a clarifier is a shampoo that leaves your hair extra clean because its made to remove build up , harsh water and whatever else can be in your hair , a clarifying shampoo if im not mistaken i think does the same thing an apple cider vinegar does cleanse and restore the ph balance of the hair

@Creolebeauty1, that's absolutely right! Because the clarifying removes all that unwanted buildup, it in a sense strips it that's why its important not to use a clarifying too often an to make sure you condition very well after its use to add that moisture back into it!!!

I would only get it if your using alot of products in your hair that causes constant buildup that doesn't rinse out when using your regular shampoo, otherwise I wouldn't but that's just me!

Another note to make mention of is that clarifying poo is not good to use when you have color, it causes it to fade much quicker then it normally would!

Girl you are a jewel! I don't think I need it then. The heaviest products I have in rotation are my Shea Moisture CES and a few gels. I think I will leave the clarifying shampoo off. Thanx!!

I use a clarifying poo on my hair every six weeks and it hasn't had any impact on my color. Just thought I'll put that out there.
Re: Quick Question on Shampoo
@Elitebeauty13, that's great that it hasn't affected your hair, but perhaps I should have specified not to use it as often as a regular shampoo, it usually takes about 6-8 weeks for regular color to grow out so if your clarifying every 6 weeks you wouldn't see a result of the color fading. At least with my clients this is what I've noticed an learned in school how often and in what conditions (colored hair) not to use a clarifying shampoo.

Does anyone know about clarifying conditioners? V05 sells a line of them that I have purchased.

I don't understand how that could work. Don't conditioners add something to the hair? How could it clarify?

Ive used the clarifying conditioners by v05 when I didnt want to use shampoo. I like them, they arent as harsh on my hair, and they can get the job done, but they def arent as strong as a typical clarifier. The clarifying conditioners are really good for wanting to cleanse your scalp when you dont have heavy products on your scalp, but the sulfates arent as strong as shampoos.

Re: Quick Question on Shampoo
I used a clarifying shampoo for the first time since being natural this past weekend because my hair has been acting weird...lol.
It sure felt stripped but after a DC treatment, my hair felt better (still a bit dry but i'll DC again this weekend).
It was by Paul Mitchel and it cost 4.99$, i think. I bought it at Ulta.
I'll let you know if my hair goes back to its old ways iin a week.
