Oils, oils, oils

Hi guys! I'm in the middle of transitioning. I've done a lot of research on here and I see that most everyone has incorporated oils into their regimen somehow. For a newbie like me though, it's a bit overwhelming!

I understand that most oils are used to seal, but how much do you use? Which ones are best? Do you just slick it on, or do you mix it with other stuff? Are there certain oils that are best for certain things....and if so, what are they? lol I appreciate the help

I use an oil blend, castor oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil. I usually use this for my once a week scalp massages and this blend is also in my leave in mix. Ive noticed the castor oil component has helped with thickening my edges...Hope This Helps

We are oil sisters. That is my oil blend. I use is after I apply my cantu shea butter leave in. Im kinda heavy handed with it so I dont have to use it often. I only apply it when my hair is wet.

Also I mix olive oil in my deep conditioner. And I slick castor oil on top of my pre wash/co wash conditioner.

I use my oils mostly in my shea butter mixes , and i sometimes seal my ends with jojoba oil , and i also use oils for pre poo , and i add oils to my leave in and to my Deep conditioner so oils play a big part in my natural hair care
The oils i have tried and loved so far go as follow Castor oil (as someone mention it helps thicken your hair ) , Avocado oil (is very rich in fatty acid and so on and is very essential at improving hair health , they are many other benefits but i didn't want to talk to much , coconut oil ( from what i understand it's one of the few oils that can penetrate the hair shaft and it smells great ) , jojoba oil (the only oil that mimics our natural hair oil sebum i use this to seal my ends and massage my scalp sometimes ) extra virgin olive oil ( the very first oil i used i love it and it's a great sealant among other things , i tried the peppermint essential oil it's very tingly and helps promote hair growth , i want to try sweet almond oil ... i may have left some out lol i'll be back if i did hope that helped though

Hey Newlynaturelle it can be overwhelming, I'm only a good month in after my BC. But thus far I have added olive oil and honey to my condish and its soooo great! My hair retains moisture after rinsing, its soft and smells great. So to start you could merely add an oil to your condish or use it to seal after your wash...all these oils and such can be overwhelming!

I use olive oil castor oil and coconut oil with 1 drop of tea tree oil. I don't know the specific uses for hair use. I mainly started using them because it sounded cool and different. I love the reaction on some people's faces that when I tell them castor oil is a natural laxative and the olive/coconut I use in my hair is the same I use to cook that food they just said was delicious.

I use to use only coconut oil to seal my ends but mostly now (since I received my shea butter) I created a shea butter mix of coconut oil, Shea butter, jojoba oil, olive oil, vitamin E, and castor oil and I use that as my daily moisturizer. I sometimes use tea tree oil if my scalp is feeling itchy.
