Keratin Treatment Empty Keratin Treatment

Post by 4EverNatural 3rd March 2011, 9:53 pm

Hello Natural Beauties,

Today I went in the Salon for a trim and the stylist tried to persuade me to get a Keratin Treatment because it will help strengthen my hair....yada...yada..yada.

What do you think? Has anyone tried this treatment, if so what was the outcome?

I don't know if you've ever heard of groupon, but today's groupon was a deeply discounted keratin treatment! I think the original price was $460, but the groupon price was about $145. I really contemplated getting it, but I'm too scared!

I'm with BajanPrincess. I'm scared to death of the long term effects of that. I mean you and the stylist have to wear masks to put the stuff on. Not a good sign. Good luck whatever you decide.

@4everNatural...
a few friends of mine did it last year and they all regret it. They say that their hair is str8 and they "lost" their curl...
And as mentioned by the other ladies...some health concerns have been raised about it....

But whatever you decide...good luck

my friend got it, and she likes it, but its just a relaxer w/ formaldehyde (can't spell that!) she wass newly naturally and didn't know how to take care of her hair so it started breaking off. So you would have to grow it out and basically start all over.

Hey girl! I wouldn't do it if I were you....that keratin treatment is just another gimmick for stylists to get more money out of you.

If its really that serious, just get a relaxer or texlax it...

^ that wasn't directed at you...i was jsut sayin...lol

If you are looking for safe hair strengthening. A cassia or henna treatment is a good treatment. These are proven, just look at some of the henna posts in the Henna section.
