My ends. Help!!
Okay so...I have longer hair and everything seems healthy EXCEPT MY ENDS. Let me tell before yo usee the pics, sometimes my hair (mostly my ends) get so dry that my mom says I look like sideshow bob. I live in wisconsin...so of course it's cold. I have been wearing my hair out but even when I pull it into a bun it still gets dry. I usually use a mix of castor/olive oil on my hair but it doesn't seem to do anything at all. I've tried to the kinky curly leave in as well. What the heck!? Pictures below...

Re: My ends. Help!!
Also, do you deep condition on a regular basis? What leave-in moisturizers do you use after you wash?
Re: My ends. Help!!
I deep condition once every week. After I wash, I detangle using infusium 23's leave in, and my castor/olive oil mix. When my hair has been dry for about 1-2 days, I refresh my ends with the castor/olive oil mix and the kinky curly leave in.
So basically my leave ins: Infusium and Kinky Curly

The Infusium 23 probably isn't heavy enough. What do you seal your ends with?

You think so? I try not use a lot of it only because I know it can cause a protein buildup and cause my hair to become brittle. I usually seal my ends with the kinky curly leave in and also my castor/olive oil.

Re: My ends. Help!!
i've never used Infusium 23 so i can't really comment (i like Giovanni Direct Leave-in) but when you use your leave-ins does your hair absorb it and shrink/curl up? That's how i know that my hair likes something and feels moisturized. On the other hand, something that doesn't work for my hair will just sit on top of it. If you are concerned about being protein sensitive and have had a bad experience with it, then it may be time for you to switch to a diff product. Too me, a good leave-in will not have bad affects on your hair no matter how much you use (if you add too much, then you may just have damp hair that takes long to dry! lol, but never brittle).
ALSO, If sealing with oils aren't working you should consider something heavier like shea butter. I know for me, sealing with oils alone wasn't enough because water evaporates from my hair really fast.
I hope you continue to get more advice from the other ladies here, too...

Re: My ends. Help!!
I would suggest a good trim. If there is a professional you trust, I would go and have that done. If not, do an internal search here and you will find info/links about trimming and there are YT vids. Next, to prevent this from reoccurring:
1. Refrain from heat as much as possible (hair dryers/flat iros/curling irons, etc.)
2. Use solid moisturizing products, cleansers, conditioners, and non-drying stylers (for example, no gels with alcohol)
3. If you are in a cold and or windy climate, keep hair covered with hats/caps, etc., but ALWAYS wear a satin scarf or wig cap underneath.
4. Keep hair well moisturized and seal with a HEAVY oil or butter
5. Protective styles may be helpful, esp. if you are in a harsh climate right now.
Just a few tips. Bueno suerte!
