Hair growing at different rates
Have you noticed your hair doing this? It seems to me that the hair at the very top center of my head is growing faster than the hair on the sides and especially the front. Am I the only one?

April, you can do an internal search and peruse previous related threads. FYI: these 3 links address your question and other related factors. There is some interested more historical hair info as well. The first link is less complex, more intended for the general public. Hope this is helpful as it demonstrates the full head of hair is not in the same growth cycle. Therefore, all of your hair will not be the same length unless you continuouslyfocus on cutting it to maintain 1 single length.

Re: Hair growing at different rates
No, mine too! For some reason my sides and back (nape?) seem to be my fastest growing bits, but I thought they usually grow slowest? I swear the difference is more than 1/2 an inch (total natural hair about 3 inches at longest parts)!
It's extra weird because the places where there is less hair overall seems to be the places that are growing fastest. So, my braids at the sides and nape might be only like 3 1/2 inches total, but 90% natural, but the middle and front are like 10 inches total, so maybe 30% natural! Lol! Makes me wonder if having less relaxed bits on the end is making the sides/back grow faster, also makes me wonder what kind of madness I'm gonna look like if I big-chop!
Also! It's the sides and back that I can't keep my hands out of. Go figure!

Re: Hair growing at different rates
no hun, ur not the only one w/ this problem b/c alot of ppl hair grow at different rates; all ur hair isn't gonna be the same length unless u cut it all one length and even then, some of ur hair in certain areas may start growing faster than the other part that's been cut; that's just how hair is

Nope. Around the edges of my head grows uber-slow. I affectionately refer to it as my 'halo' lol

Nope that happens to me too. But keep in mind that sometimes the hair in the front or on the sides seems shorter than the rest of your hair but its not. The areas have more distance to go as they are further up on your head and thus fall at different parts of your head/ body. If you were to measure it, it may actually come out to be the same length.
