Ok ladies. ihave a quick question Empty Ok ladies. ihave a quick question

Post by ArmaniMaze 15th December 2010, 12:27 am

Well first I'd like to say that everyone in my house is natural. My mom has dreads, i'm rockin the TWA, and my grandma wears her hair in twists. Back when I was getting perms my grandma decided to get one with me ( at home). She applied it and everything went like normal. My grandma has akways had loosely curled hair almost like Mya. When she got that perm her hair didn't really change. I see her wash it and it curls up like it used to before the perm. Why is it that her hair still is the same as it was before and after the perm?

How long did she leave it in her hair?? And sometimes people's hair just doesn't accept the relaxer. I have heard of that before. I don't know what it is but it happens sometimes. Or it just could be because she only left it in a short period of time. Did she use a kiddie perm? Or a regular one?

It was a regular one I believe and she left it in as long as mine, so about maybe 12 minutes.

Oh completely different. My hair in Andre Walker terms is 4a with corkscrew curls. My grandma's is 2c-3a with S curls.

Perms didn't really straighten my hair. It reverted and started curling up after the first wash almost everytime. I'm so glad I'm natural now.

That happens sometimes (I've even had it happen to me). But even though the hair still has the same curl/wave pattern, it has been chemically altered. Your grandma has to deep condition regularly to keep her hair strong.

I agree with Naturalesque! Although I still had my curls with permed/ relaxed hair, my hair wasn't healthy or strong. It always curled up with water but I had split ends galore and it never grew much past my shoulders.

Had I taken better care of my hair, I may not have gone completely natural because I thought I had the best of both worlds. The deciding factor was long, healthy hair and I have that now...YAY!!!
