I have been under the weather for the past couple of days, but I did get to take some pics.
Have a great weekend!
I can't wait to see your mini twists. I am having a hard time twisting and rolling the back of my hair for twist n rod sets. My arms start to hurt... . And I just don't have the patience for mini twists. I would have to get them done.
I am sorry you weren't feeling well. I was concerned because I did not hear from you after your BC announcement. Feel better soon.

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Today is so rainy, windy, and cold. I have no intention of going out today. But I do have to go to work tonight .
So last night, I decided to go through my products to pick out the cones and proteins again. I am now left with AO HSR, Suave coconut condish, and Devaone condition. THAT IS IT!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! I removed the the other products and have them stored in a separte place. The problem is the 3 items I mentioned are only less than half the bottle . So I will have to go shopping soon. So my main problem with product is going to be finding products that have slip, no protein, and no cones. That will narrow down my choices tremendously. I am happy about that.
I decided to do my hair and give myself a facial for SPA FRIDAY. I went back to products that does my hair good. And it happens to be all natural things. So I pooed the hair with my magnificant face wash. (I literally threw out every sulfate shampoo I owned. That is how impressed I am with this face wash for my shampoo) Then I applied my amla/shakai/marshmallow root/rosewater/evoo mix. Left it in for 1 hour. Rinsed out with water then Suave coconut condish. The hair felt nice and I could feel all my little curls. So cute . My DC mix was then applied, plastic cap and a towel wrap. DCed overnight. My DC mix was made up of AO HSR/honey/pureed bananas (baby food)/aloe vera juice/a little castor/sweet almond/avocado oils. I will rinse out this afternoon. I think I will like to try a straight roller set. I may end up with a twist roller set. We will see......
My facial was divine. Made up of amla/orange peel/ multani powders/rosewater. Applied and left on for 30 mins. Gently rinsed off and applied a little mango butter to face and pure lanolin to lips. Yes lanolin!! I have discovered that lanolin is a great lips protectant and makes my lips so soft. I actually used my breastfeeding one. So ladies if you have Lanoish, the breast and nipple lubricant for breastfeeding. Do not throw it out. That is the purest form of lanolin and it's not cheap. So use just a little for your lips. A little goes a long way. I also want to try this on my edges, instead of gel. It seems to have great hold without the stickness and dryness. Very interesting, I know . I may even use a little on my twists. Like I said just a little goes a looooonnnnng way.
I will post results on Monday. HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND DOLLS!!!!

Good Morning,
Looks like Spring cleaning came early, right.
You could keep some conditioners with proteins in them as long as they don't have cones or sulfates - right?

Hi IB~
You provide a lot of good/interesting information. I have a question. What do you know, or have you heard about Miconazole Nitrate? I've read that this is the main ingredient found int Neosporin AF and Monistat which has been know to grow hair!!! Monistat 3 or 7 is what is recommended.
I've read that is will grow hair in areas where there has been hair lose (edges and thin places) at a very fast rate. (about an inch or more a month)
What are your thoughts on this? Have you heard of this?
Can't wait the see the results of your roller set/twist roller set!

No unfortunately BBD, I am protein sensitive. So protein just makes my hair hard and brittle:-(

I don't know about that. The active in those products is an antifungal. I will have to read up on it to see if it has sulfur. If it does that could be what contributes to the growth. But to take these products and apply to hair without a true fungal problem, does not sound health. I will get back to you with more info. This sounds interesting.

I was always told lanolin was as big a no-no as petrolatum. I'd be interested to see your results. Also, since you are protein sensitive, how does that work with the bananas? I thought they were protein. No?

Yes, bananas are proteins. However, it seems certain proteins bother me and some do not. I haven't figured that part out yet. So complex

It is 32 fl oz for like 12 dollars. It is fanastic. I haven't been this excited about a product since bentonite clay.... . It cleans without stripping. The hair feels clean and moisturized. You can purchase at Vitamin Shoppe or any health food store. They have smaller sizes too if you want to just sample it.
ITS THE LARGE BOTTLE IN THE PIC, I will get another pic with ingredients.

That's great info IB. I noticed they do sell pure lanolin at Whole Foods. So it couldn't be the worst. I don't need ANY more products right now, but let me know your results.

Having read some info tonight. It seems the LHC community kicked this off.
I am really skeptical of this causing tremendous hair growth. If used, it doesn't seem to affect the scalp negatively. However there are really no actual scientific studies done on this.
I would recommend, if used, to place the miconazole cream in a carrier oil. (Not just apply the antifungal straight to scalp.)
I am one of those that do not believe that there is any product that can grow hair faster. I believe any combination of these will cause the hair to grow more efficently (getting at least the normal 1/2 inch) and healthy. They are castor oil, horstail, burdock, amla, henna, biotin, hair vitamins, good diet and exercise, finding a health hair regimen, etc. And I also believe that hair retention and health is where most of us need to concentrate our efforts and not hair growth. Hair growth will happen regardless in the normal growth/shed cycle. However, finding ways to improve hair retention and maintain length and health, is more of a challenge.

Thanks IB~
I knew I could count on you to give me the best information. I have a girlfriend that is a part of the LHC and she sent me a blog about this. I will share your findings with her. My concern would be the side effects...headaches!!!
I told her to come over and join us here, but she doesn't feel comfortable because she's not natural. (trying to convince her to stop with the creamy crack)
At any rate...I will pass this on!!! Thanks much!!!
I'll check back later to see pictures!!!
Have a blessed day!!!!

Good Monday Morning dolls:
I was feeling quite annoyed and just a little down yesterday because I just knew my twist n curl would come out nice. However, it was a disaster. Just a hot mess. I ended up doing a puff. The hair felt heavy and sticky, even though I tried to be careful not to use too much whipped shea/oil mix.
Ok here is what I did after the rinse out of the DC mix, my curls felt so good. So then I applied DEVaone condish to entire head as leave in then sectioned, applied whipped shea/oil, twisted, and applied castor oil to ends. Everything looked good. But it was not. NO PICS TODAY.
I know that it will take sometime to find the right product mix for me but this is kind of ridiculous. It's like my DCers are the move and the curls are poppin but my stylers are non existant or just don't work. I have noticed that I do not have a true styler product nor gel. Also I am tried of styling my hair in twists and all the rest. I WANT TO WASH N GO. I was so looking forward to that once I BCed. My naturaland dear friend, whom I have been sending pics of my hair out, no product, etc, said I am overthinking and overstyling. I told her it was because I probably know too much. She said "no, I think it's because you have not mentally accepted your curls as is." I was taken back at first by what she said because I really do love my curls, but then I thought about it and said "you are right." To have my hair wet and let it dry while going outside to places not knowing the result, is SCARY to me. Also my husband's response plays a factor too. My hair is so loose in the front and crown and tight all around. I feel I will look like sonic the hedge hog (yall remember that game...LOL ) I just can't see it! But she says I have to try it and since I am not having the fabulous results I had hoped for with the twists and braids, etc. I am forced now to try it.
I will prepoo my hair when I get home with Vatikai oil. Then I will cowash with devaone condish and scrunch with Suave natural coconut condish, as per MC's new method. I have no idea what I will do with the front but I will let it be or maybe part it and gel it down. I will let the hir air dry and go to work like that (this is huge for me). I figure by the morning if it doesn't dry well; I will bring a stylish hat and wear it before my coworkers come in. If it doesn't work I will move on to adding gel to it, then if that doesn't work I will try Sweet's old method. If that doesn't work I will wear a puff until I see my natural dear friend this saturday and have her do it......

Hey IB-
I know exactly how you feel....
If I use too much product my hair gets "flaky", but when I shampoo, it' gets frizzy. I've learned that co-washing isn't getting the product out enough, but when I co-wash my curls are more defined. I started doing wash n go's and received many complements, some from complete strangers... , but because I don't have the length, by day two, it's smashed down from sleeping on it and it never looks as good. This journey is certainly a lesson in patience.
I have a question for you. When you put conditioner in as a leave in and you air dry, does your hair stay white in places? Even after mine dries, it still has a white residue that has dried. I've been using aloe vera gel, and I like it much better. I'm just curious if you have had that problem.
Take care lady.....

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Good Morning IB,
I'm sorry your style didn't turn out the way you wanted. You know all this natural hair stuff is trial and error for a while. Don't get discouraged. I agree with your friend, you do have to mentally accept your curls for what they are. I'm learning to accept mines and embrace them. Each and everyday I love them more and more. My personal opinion is that your Husband plays a large role in your hair care, I can understand that - and his opinions really matters to you. But, what if your curls aren't what either of your expect? Then what? Will that mean you will never do a WnG? I value my husband's opinion as well, so far he hasn't said anything negative about my natural hair. He know's this is my passion and my hobby.
As for stylers, I think you need to try some new things. I love to buy products and try out new and different stuff. It's fun. I buy all natural prodcucts on-line from various vendors. I have stuff from Giovanni, My Honey Child, Karen's Body Beautiful, Qhemet, AfroVeda, Curls, AOHSR, Koils by Nature, etc. and I still want more. I'm a certified PJ. But what I'm saying is you might find something that works for you and your hair type. So far, I haven't tried anything that my hair doesn't truly like. If it doesn't work the first time around, I find a way to tweak to make it work. I also get inspiration from the Ladies here, Fotki, and YT.
I know you are up on your game when it come to hair care and the do's and dont's - just don't be afraid to move out-side of the box a little.
I'm praying for you and and wishing you success with your WnG - MC's technique and great video tutorial are excellent.
It will get better. Once you learn to love your own hair, what other's think will be irrelevant (co-workers).
Have a great day - SisterCurlyFriend
