Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 (New International Version)

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
A TIME TO BIG CHOP....LOL

GOOD THURDAY MORNING DOLLS:

It is snowing so heavy over here. This is now the 3rd snow storm this month.
My hair has been under a bonnet and hat these past 2 days, however I will bAng and bun tonight for work.
I am numb to the fact that I will be BCing in 6 days. It hasn't quite sunk in yet IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_rolleyes . My husband and I are still trying to come together to sort out pics of hair styles. I am trying to explain to him that I really don't know what my hair will look like. It is like a big surprise. Well he wants various pics of what it may look like. Maybe you gals can help me. I need pics of TWA's that would look like something that would fit me. You gals have seem all of my photos and may have a better idea than I do. He wants to be able to print out these styles and hand it to the stylist to do. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_scratch . The problem with that is the salon I am going to just does curly styles, not twists, coils, etc. Just whatever your curl is, that is what they work with. So please help me find photos. It will be greatly appreciated.

HAVE A SAFE DAY DOLLS!!!

Hi IB~

6 more days and counting!!!! IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 617583

Have you checked with the salon to see if they have any pictures? Do they have a website? If they do...check and see if they have pictures of their clients styles on the web.

Their website has nothing. They said when I come in they have pics. But that is not good enough for my husband. You tube is useless too. Only one girl made a video about her experience and cut and she has 3c curls. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_cry

Good Friday morning:

So as Black History month comes to a close, I can't help but think of all the progress our people have made. Progress in our civil rights, education, technology, the sciences, financials, and even the highest positions in government. However, there is one area that continues to progress in the wrong direction (in my opinion). And that is how we think about our hair. From the inventor of the hot comb (W.H. Sammons) to the first chemical hair straighter (Garrett Augustus Morgan) to No-lye and weaves and wigs. We have continued to try to transform and cover a beautiful part of what makes us African American (black, colored). The curls, kinks, coils and bends of our hair are uniquie to our nation. Even in inter racial relationships that produce children, the result in the childen's hair is some sort of curl or bend. Rarely is it straight. As we become more intellectual and advance in our various fields of study, we are driven to cover and chemically alter that part of us that sets us apart. The hair that matches our eyes, nose and lips, and some straight down to our hips. It is the beautiful bodaciousness that we should embrace and call our own. Maybe one day...... Maybe one day.......

I am sorry I am feeling philosophical this morning... IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_lol .

On to the hair, twist n curl bangs and low bun. The same style this week. I want to henna today, but I am feeling so lazy for the first time since I started this process. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_cry I may not do anything to my hair until next week's appointment. I am not feeling very excited about the BC IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_cry , worried about my husband's reaction. I just can't picture my hair afterwards and so that is not very helpful for him to envision it either. I just want to cut it and get this part over with.

The weather is just miserable today. Snow, winds, ice...just lovely IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_mad

Anyway, HAVE A TERRIFIC WEEKEND NATURALISTAS!!!

Good Morning IB~

You are on point about sisters and how we haven't progress in a positive pathway as to how we embrace our natural hair. However, I think we are on our way. I find that more ladies in their 20's & 30's are embracing their natural texture more than those in their 40's & up.

A lot has to do with habit, perception and the lack of knowledge, and I can only hope and pray that as more ladies like myself embrace this journey others will join in.

I know that you may feel a little nervous, because it is important that your husband is please with your natural look. However, trust me he will love your hair watch and see!!! Wink

Good Morning IB,

Black History to me isn't what it use to be. I have not heard much comentary on it this month. The effects of what it stands for is dwindling to me.

So, you are starting to feel the way I felt a few days prior to my BC. I totally understand. Your husband has been so supportive of you and your journey, I can't imagine him not liking the outcome. I'm sure, he'll be shocked at the length as was mine, but it will grow back. My husband has not had not one negative comment since I've gotten the BC. I guess he is just happy to see my hair out. I had been bunning for well over a year exclusively. Also I'm glad I did a longer transition.

The jitters will blow over. So have you decided on a type of cut? Shape? Style? Once you get the cut, how will you have them style it - or will you go home and do that yourself?

I can't wait to see your hair.

IB: I know you are nervous (Lord knows I am too), but we already know that you have a beautiful face and spirit. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_biggrin So, with that being said, when you go in there and they cut your hair, I say take some nice earrings and/or headband and put on a little makeup. Your attitude and confidence after the BC will probably govern how you DH will feel about it. They notice how we feel too (sometimes) IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_surprised . I have talked about BCing early and I know my DH is just like "do it", but I kind of want to do mine myself cause I don't trust any of the straight haired women near my curls! Anyway, even though you're nervous, just think where you would be if you were still wearing relaxers...just another number like everyone else! No one else has your EXACT look and curl pattern, so hold your head high sister! HTH!

Let's get it! I might do mine early now!

Blondie,
You are right. W.H. Sammons did. C.J. Walker invented the hair growth formula and became the first black female millionaire.

Thanks IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_biggrin I will have to edit my above post.

And I will definitely post pics.

Your are right BBD. Black history month and just the talk about black history has become so antiquated. Our ancestors are probably rolling in their graves at our actions towards their and our history. But I realize we as a people have to celebrate it. Non blacks will not do it for us. We have to own this one, just like we have to own Martin Luther King, Jr. day as well.

So what I am feeeling is normal? OK. I thought I was feeling that way because of my DH stressing me out IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_lol .

At this point, I just want the relaxed ends off. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_lol I would like to try a wash n go and that is what the salon does. They do not do twists or coils or anything like that.

Keisha girl, Thank you so much for that. I will be getting my eyebrows done the day before (after 1 yr of not touching them IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_lol ). And I want to look my best, so when my hair is done, my DH can see a complete picture. I sure do not want to ever go back to that perm and I am happy that I was able to transition this long.
And you my dear, sounds like you are mentally ready to BC. Go for it early!!!!

HELLO EVERYONE:

I have some bad news. I had to call Devashan salon today and change my appointment date. It is now on Friday, March 12th at 2pm. The Wednesday date was not good for my DH schedule. (sigh) I will have to change my ticker now IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_cry . Well maybe it's not such a bad thing because we expect another snow storm on Wednesday anyway. So it may be a blessing.

I will henna on this Monday. Don't feel like it this weekend and have no time anyway.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. IntelligentBeauty;-) - Page 29 Icon_smile

Since you said the salon doesnt do styles, you are stuck with getting a wash n go, right? So will you just let her cut the relaxed ends or will you let her shape it?

Wow, IB, 13 days now. Okay - you're right, maybe for the best because of snow and I can understand with your DH schedule and all - I know he wants to be part of the process. So this almost puts you at your original BC date.

I thought when Devashan do the dry cut - they are shaping as they go along? Is that not the case?

Ladies, I am geting anxious. bounce And I really don't want to deal with the 2 textures this time around. I know what my husband wants but I just can't take it anymore! My mind is ready for the BC, snow or no snow! My hair is just not fun anymore dealing with the tangles and knots of the relaxed hair. Also knowing that I might be doing more harm than good. I will henna on Monday and DC overnight into Tuesday. I will try my best to hold out for my DH sake, but I don't know........

BBD you are correct. Deva salon does cut dry and shape as they go. But since I have relaxed ends, I have been trying to find out from them how I should wear my hair. I am getting nowhere. Their response is always as you would normally wear it, which means nothing to me since I am in a bun right now. Mad I have left a message for the stylist about transitioners and how she handles the BC, but I get no response. It's a little scary. I would think she would have to wet the hair to see the difference and where to cut, but I don't know for sure. Very frustrating. That doesn't help my anxiety at all bounce. I am sure probably once I get there, everything will be ok. But the non responsiveness to a simple question is crazy, IMO.
