Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
I just wanted to say to all the curlies:
Have a safe and Happy New Years eve. The New Year will catch our family on our knees in prayer. Thanking God for His mercy and grace toward our family and His many blessings this past year. And looking forward to see all the wonderful things He has in store for us in the New Year. Expecting that the best is yet to come.

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE,
I am so excited about this new year. I will be totally natural in the spring. And I look forward to bringing in the new.
I hope everyone had a safe and blessed New year's eve.
So on the hair, it is still in twist and rod set. I have not unraveled today. I have used my whipped shea mix on my 2 boys. One has course curls like mine and the other has fine curls. It seems like the last mix on both their heads lasted moistured longer. The current mix I have to apply everyday. Also I find that it is a great moisturizer for the face. It isnt greasy. Nice coverage and light. Very nice. I attribute the last mix being more moisturizing because of the little added AO HSR. Anyway I will see when I unravel maybe tonight....lol.
I also started a new post in the GENERAL SECTION on the defintion of natural. Check it out.

Happy New Year!
Sounds like you have a good whipped shea--body, face and hair.

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
@Lynn, this transitional hair takes way too long to style. So if I ain't got no where to go. I leave it alone....lol. I will probably take them out on sunday night. I have a meeting with managment on Monday morning.
@Chrs, yes I think I may have found a combo mix. A rod roller popped and fell out my hair and I saw my double strand twist and curl. It was shiney and nice. I got excited and almost unraveled everything....lol. But I truly love the mixture on my face. It doesn't feel heavy, you know. Just moisturized, goes on easy over entire face. No big rubbing to get it in the skin and no removing excess with cold wet wash cloth. Just perfect.
@Humannature, thank you

Its about time for me to whip up some more shea body butter. I may have to borrow your recipe. I'm still looking into the fragrance oils vs essential oils.
Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Get it, girl!!! May it do wonders for you as it has done for me .

"What a mighty God I serve, what a mighty God I serve,
Angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him,
What a mighty God I serve"--a song
Good Morning ladies,
I was engrossed in reading articles from textureplayground.com all night long. WOW, talk about information. And I like Mrs. Fleurty's style. She likes her products inexpensive, her hair routine looks simple and she likes to mix her own stuff. Yippeeee!!! So I am sooo excited because she has so many great recipes on there. Some of which I will have to wait to try because it's too cold right now. Some of the ingredients are humctants (honey, molasses, etc). I was also very excited to know that she was able to decifer what was in Jane Carter Nourish and shine (my package just says butters, oils and she names the vitamins) . The JC Nourish and Shine smells wonderful and I like it on my skin but it is too expensive. I would like to copycat the formula and see if I can tailor it a little bit more to my liking. The only problem is Mrs. Fleurzty did not give any measurements. So I have to figure that out then tailor.
I have already started my wish list of items I would like to get from www.mountainroseherbs.com just to start mixing. But I will have self control and wait until I have at least come close to finishing what I have already made. Thankfully, I didn't make as much as my last batch....lol.

I'm anxious to see the style too, but I'll just keep patiently waiting until tomorrow.I certainly understand not wanting to "reveal" a style until you have to.
I wish I had the desire to mix up my own stuff, but I don't. If that changes though, I know where to come for recipes.

I look forward to the spiritual element of your posts! Now that song is stuck in my head along with the moves we used to do to that song when I was younger...oh the memories
We truly serve a MIGHTY GOD!!

I recently discovered textureplayground, it can be addicting. I spent a good bit on time on that site

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
I recently found a mom who makes a lot of her own body products. I'm on my phone at the moment so I can't tell you the site now but when I get back to my laptop I'll send it to you. She even makes her own deodorant...I've been using Toms to avoid the aluminum in regular deodorants but hers is even more basic than that! I'm excited. I'm going to be mixing it up good in 2010
Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
love the hair but i'm here to continue the song
"we serve a mighty God, A mighty God, A mighty God we serve... Angels bow before Him heavens and earth adore Him What a Might God We Serve."

Just wanted to chime in and tell you I love the scriptures you include. Also your roller sets look fabulous. Very healthy looking and shiny.

Yeah girl, I will post pics on Monday. I work overnights, so I will unravel sunday night and post on monday morning. It is like 17 degrees over here, so I am glad I never unraveled.
Once you use up all your products, you can start substituting them out for some homemade stuff. STart with shampoos first, it's easier and cheap. Like using baking soda to cleanse the hair and scalp.

Hey TIA, for the new year I have decided to show a little of my relationship with the Lord (thus the spiritual element). I know this is a hair blog but hey this is who I am and it is part of my journey.
Yes textureplayground is chock full of info...LOVE IT!!!

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever" Psalms 118:1
Good sunday morning,
So I just realized that I have not set any hair goals for 2010 on my thread like the other curlies. So I will proceed to do that now.
Here are my Five Goals:
1)Go through with cutting off my permed ends on March 17th
2)Learn to love my new look and embrace the features God gave me (prayer on that)
3)Learn what my hair likes and dislikes all over again.
4)Learn how to style my hair without beautician visits.
5)Learn how to whip up my own hair products
Also I didn't have room on my list for this one, but with me it's understood. To help someone else alone the way with their journey.
So now that I have put this list out there. This curly community can now hold me accountable and check me when I am off. (Just be gentle, I am sensitive ,not)

Hey Buddy-
You have a wonderful thread here. I will check back often while we are on this journey. I didn't know you were all making butters and stuff...LOL.
You are so inspiring.

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Hey Courtney, thanks for stopping by.
In my reading on BCs, I have seen dryness as the chief complaint. For help on that and anything else relating to TWA, check out curlyfriends forum and see MahaganyCurls. Also on this forum, check out Lynn, Traveljunkie, and Sweetdrk. They all have beautiful TWAs and they all vary in textures so you can pick the one closest to your hair and see what they do. Ask them lots of questions. They are pretty recent BCers, not a whole year natural yet. Howver, they have been through many trials and errors and have mastered alot of techniques already.
