Winter tips
Hey ladies,
Aside from Protective Styling, should I change/add any products.
Im still quite new to all this.
Where I am in england, it gets pretty cold, getting there already, we get bright days that are icey cold, and the cold wet dark miserable windy days too.
As a rule, I co-wash once a week, with a 97% Natural Intensive condish and leave it in for 5-10mins whilst i shower, then apply Olive Oil Moisturieser as leave in, Organix Coconut Milk Serum (lovely ingredients -mostly natural), then my Styler, Alcohol free Gel or Curl Creme, (both have hardly any sulphates or cones either), then coconut oil on my ends....wash 2of the week is occassionally a Natural Shampoo for Clarifying if i feel i have build up, if not too bad HEHH instead, and if i have been wearing up-do's i'll just do another co-wash, I also do intensive treatment fortnightly, Organix Self Heating Serum with again, loads of lovely ingredients including Egg white protiens.
Anything I should add/remove?
In the shower &/or heat my hair frizzes a lot annoyingly as I am prone to humidty, but I understand in the Winter, i want to allow this, not combat it to prevent my hair drying out? How do I do this?
Thanks girls xxxxxx

Re: Winter tips
What you add and remove will depend on your hair type. I would recommend trying to find an hair twin and taking note of how they care for their hair during the colder months.
Re: Winter tips
Hey Tiashauntee
I will try that, though, i seem to struggle as posted a Q about 3a/b hair and barely got replies as I think a lot of the curly ladies on here are more 3c and above, so i'll pop over to naturally curly too - though again, get far less response on there...boooo! Lol!
is it Glycerine thats good to avoid in the colder months - is this what allows moisture in? Am I right in thinking that, that summer, we use Glycerine to keep it in and add it, them remove it when cold so hair can draw it in from damp/cold air - or is it the other way do you know?
Thanks xxx

Re: Winter tips
WOW, I would think you would get even more replies on Naturally Curly.
I have heard over and over to avoid glycerin in the winter because it dries out your hair and also coconut oil because it gets really stiff in the cold air.

Re: Winter tips
I know, i thought so too - will try again.
Anyways, you have already helped as I use coconut oil like its going out of fashion, so i will try another, maybe Jojoba as I hear that mentioned a lot!!
And thats what i heard ref Glycerine too - in summer it allows hair to take in moisture whilst not frizzing, but in the winter, it struggles so it dries the hair out ..or thereabouts, but basically im gonna avoid it on my top 3 as advised on moptopmaven in her winter tips! worth a go, or will be soon as getting colder here :-(
Thanks tiashauntee xx

Re: Winter tips
tiashauntee, can you recommend a good replacement for coconut oil? I use it a lot on my daughter's hair, but if it's not good in the cold weather then I will need something new for our lovely Canadian winters, especially since we walk to school.

@keksnum--try EVOO (extra virgin olive oil).

I have been loving Jojoba oil lately however, it may be pricey to use if you use it daily.
