Gel with no protein
Ok. Everytime I do a twist out my hair frizzes up like 30 minutes after I take them down. The only explaination I have is that the gel has protein. My hair does not like protein so I limit the products that contain protein. I bought the ECO styler gel before I new my hair didn't like protein. I check the ingredence for the ECO styler olive oil and it has protein. Does anyone have any suggestions for gels that do not have protein in them. Also I have 4c texture. Thanks.

Re: Gel with no protein
I don't think any of the Garnier or Herbal Essences gels have protein. I know for a fact the Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz (based with aloe vera gel) doesn't have any protein at all. The Afroveda PUR Whipped Gelly also doesn't contain protein. TRESemme, I'm not so sure--but they DO contain -cones (silicones), if that's an additional concern for you.

I was going to suggest KCCC too.

KCCC is good, but have you looked into IC fantasia polishing gel (I think thats the name) I'm not sure about the protein.
Re: Gel with no protein
Thanks ladies. I have the KCCC but it never donned on me to use it as a gel. I usually use it for a wash and go. The IC does have protein or atleast the ones that walmart was selling. I think I will also try some of the gels that LadyMia suggested.

BattleKat I have the same problem with gels. I've been using ORS twist and loc gel for a while now and my hair has once again gotten real frizzy. Does anyone know if it has protein in it. I even mix it with oils like you do the eco custard. the definition is great. I love the way it makes my hair look. But I can't seem to get rid of this dang frizz.

Re: Gel with no protein
ALL the EcoStyler gels contain protein (hydrolized wheat protein) regardless of color.
Re: Gel with no protein
Long Aid Curl Activator gel with aloe doesn't have protein in it. the regular formual does. It doesn't provide much hold on my hair, but its good for moisture, curl definition and shine.
Re: Gel with no protein
Well I tried the ORS lock and twist. The first time I put pinky finger size twist in and my hair was frizzy after I took them out. The second time I put smaller twists in and I am on day 5 of my twist out and I am very pleased. I would post a pic but I think my browser at work needs to be updated. I'm excited about retwisting this week end. I'm trying to come up with different ways to style the twists. I get tired of the twist in a week and I want to keep them up at least 2 weeks. Of course I blame is on length but I am getting there.
