BC to hip length in 4 years?

Hey guys,

I ran across this story on another forum. The woman grew her hair to hip length in 4 years using braids. My goal is waist length in 3 years so I have been studying her .

I love reading things like this because they are so encouraging! I always thought black people's hair can't grow long and once you get to a certain point it just stops growing, but through this forum I realized hair GROWS. You just have to take care of it and retain the length. I would like to get my hair curly BSL and straight APL. Hopefully I can reach that in the next yr/ yr and a half. Good luck on your goal! @transitioning? reading that article just made me get a little bit of hope =) In the little bit of time I've been natural, I've already had 1/2 inch of growth! It actually has me debating the sisterlocks I want so badly or keeping my pretty little coils

This is just my 2 cents, but anyone in good health can grow long hair.

However, some people's hair is so fragile that they have to keep it in protective styles 95% of the time to get there....and that's no fun. I think that's why 4b/c hair types might have trouble retaining length. If you have really tight curls and you do twist outs a few times a week, hip length may seem impossible.

It's a trade off of what you want your hair to look like on a daily basis vs. your hair goals.

I love Zhara! I just saw her CurlyNikki interview like a week ago and I haven't been so inspired in a long time. After reading her interview and visiting her Fotki, I decided to transition to an all natural product regimen.

I checked out that article, that is a lot of growth in 4 years! I'm too clumsy for that much hair: caught in the elevator, caught in the car door, caught on fire...but kudos to her! If it's growing like that she's definitely taking superior care of her hair!
