Styling Aids Empty Styling Aids

Post by Tmochava 27th August 2010, 4:07 pm

Does anyone know of a good styling aid for twist outs, braid outs, etc? I used the Bee Mine Curly Butter on my daughter's hair and it works wonderfully but on my hair not so much. My hair is much coarser than my daughter's which I am assuming it attributes to the reason why it doesn't work as well.

Thanks! What a Face

I have a 4a texture hair and it loves Oyin Handmade Shine and Define for my twists, it's soft and gives some hold.

Anything other hair style I use Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic or Eco Styler in Olive Oil Gel

When I did my twist I used Murray's Twist and Loc Gel, and it left my hair soft and the hold wasnt hard at all, plus i been reading on here how everyone like the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie for thier twist.

Have you tried Eco custard?
I'm also looking for a good styling aid and I'm going to try Koils by Nature and take advantage of their August sale.....

Lately I've been using Koils By Nature Hair and Body butter and gel on my twist and love the results. I also used Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque (the jar says it can also be used as a leave in and to combat frizz) for my twist and I got GREAT results!!

I have the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, maybe I should try that. I want to try something other than a gel and I don't like the smell of shea butter. Am I being too picky? Lol...Thanks so much for the ideas ladies!

Oh I didn't know you didn't want a gel... I have Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie too but it doesn't have enough hold for me. When I want a cream that has hold then I use the Shine and Define by Oyin Handmade, it has a floral citrus smell to it.

Perhaps someone could recommend AfroVeda or HairVeda, I'm still waiting to try those still. Maybe I can get them as a birthday gift this year, (hint hint to my mom, lol)

I should have mentioned exactly what type of styling aid I was looking for, that's my fault. I actually think I may try something from Afroveda or Oyin. I looked into Taliah Waajid and although the product is priced fairly the shipping is ridiculous.

Any good experiences with their products as styling aids?

I have tried the Taliah Waajid leave in spray before and I keep it in my car, lol. I use it to refresh my hair after a long day of work or on my lunch break. I tried the conditioner (the yellow one) but it didn't give me the slip I wanted and it didn't make it soft for me. So I like the spray, haven't tried any of the stylers she has. They sell the line at a beauty supply near my house and at a CVS near me too.
