Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
Ladies,
I got a response from the Shea Moisture staff about a rumor that has been circulating since Target began carrying their products. Here is the copy of the response:
Thank you for your inquiry. The complete ingredients to each hair product is on our website in the hair tab. Here is the link (enlarge to 300% to see properly):
http://www.sheamoisture.com/files/SheaMoisture_Organic_Hair_Products_Info%208.18.10.pdf
The product formulations aren't different than the products on our website, and athis time, we don't sell the products directly as they're exclusive to Target and Target.com. Thank you for contacting us.
Kind regards,

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
NNolaGirl, what I do is add a little water to my dry hair, just enough to dampen, then the DTM and the lock it up. Once twisted the hair has a nice hold and doesn't look dry at all, which my hair always looks and feels dry. The hold is nice but not stiff and crunchy. Once this masque is all gone, I'll use Qhemet's AOHC with the lock it up and see if I get the same result. If not, then I'll purchase the masque for twist purposes. Other than that, I won't be repurchasing it.

Alanija, Thanks for the tip. I guess I have to find a way to use the rest of this DTM. I will add water like you suggested and pair it with my Curls Goddess Gel and see how that works. If that doesn't work, I might see if there are some swap opportunities lol. I have heard alot of favorable comments about AOHC. I put the Burdock Root on my Black Friday wish list. I know me and that AOHC will be too heavy.

Naturalnolagirl, where did you buy your SM products? I haven't been able to find them anywhere.
Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
I purchased the DTM this week and used it on dry hair, I retwist my hair nightly to keep my twist out fresh. I was really amazed with the softness that was achieved by applying this product to dry hair. Those of you have problems with it on wet hair, may want to give it a try on dry hair (but don't be heavy handed with it). I'm going to try it on wet hair and see what kind of results I get.

LaToya, I only have the DTM and I got it from Target on FM 78. I have not used much. For me, it creates alot of buildup and dullness. It smells great though, but not functional for me.

True dat! Supposedly, they will carry some of Miss Jessie's. I called them today and they had some Creame de la creame something. The only MJ product I have any interest in is the weekly conditioner. The ingredients are the "good stuff."

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
I always go to the FM 78 Target if I'm looking for...ahem...urban products. Heck, sometimes Target in the Forum doesn't carry my makeup color. Anyway I really like that Target--always kind of low-traffic for some reason no matter what time of day you go. Oh and it's not on the east side. It's in Converse. I don't know if y'all are familiar with that area. I am on the other side, on the border of Converse/Live Oak. We're a tiny spot on the map, lol.
Anyways, I have some of the Shea products if you ladies would like them because they really don't make a difference in my hair routine. They're not bad at all, but after I bought Qhemet--nothing else compares.

I only used the DTM. Won't buy more. Too much shea for me. Do you have or have you tried the shampoo. I look twice at anything that says coconut and hibiscus?

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
True about the coconut.
The only shampoo I use is Devacurl No Poo shampoo. It does the job better for my hair than any shampoo I've tried since going natural. I love it.

Ok. I will look into that. I like my Dr. Bronner's Peppermint, but I want to have a 2nd shampoo so I can rotate. Thanks

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
Just tried the DTM on wet hair...feels weird...stripped. Curious how the results will be after my hair dries. I don't think I will purchase this product again...that's what I get for splurging on unnecessary product. I will probably use the remainder of the product on dry hair to refresh my twist out, it does leave the hair really soft when applied to dry hair. I'm not to keen on the smell though...

I'll have to check out that Target. DH has family in Converse and Live Oak so I'm somewhat familiar with the area.
I agree with you about Qhemet. I recently got some as well and the Amla and Olive Cream and Olive and Honey Balm are the truth!! Can't say the same for the Burdock Root cream though.
Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
I went to Target.com's customer service link in August, and asked why my local Target store did not carry "Multicultural Hair Care Products" (their description from Target.com). I asked if they'd carry those product lines in my local Target, like they do in their other Delaware store.
They e-mailed me back and thanked me for my input.
By October 1st, they had them in my local Target.

Oh no, LaToya back up. Are you saying Burdock Root was disappointing? Give me some feedback because that is the one QB product I have on my list.

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
I love the burdock root cream way better than the amla. The amla is too heavy and it weighs my hair down, but it has ridiculous moisture. When I first used the burdock, I used EVOO with it--huuuuge mistake. I underestimated the product because it doesn't need any help to provide shine and moisture. I love it.
LaToya/Nola, have you tried the honeybush tea gel? I don't like it at all. It felt like candlewax in my hair. I decided to try it in my daughters' hair because their hair is much more fine than mine, but it felt the same way. I guess our hair porosity is prejudiced against it, lol. If you ladies want to try it let me know. I have no use for it.

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
For someone who doesn't really use gel (laughing at myself) why in the world do I have DM Miracurl (18 oz container used 2 times) and Curls Goddess Gel (used 3 times) and now I an anxious to make the flaxseed gel. Why, I ask myself. I am just curious! I guess I need to start using some of this gel so maybe I will get 5 or 6 day hair LOL

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
That is a lot of gel, lol. I had a serious dislike for gel in my relaxed days and I wanted it nowhere near my hair, but Inlove it for my short hair. Btw, the honeybush gel isn't a "true" gel if that makes sense. It provides very little hold and it is recommended if you want a soft holding style. It's soft, but it feels weird and waxy. It's not for me.

Yes, for me it was a disappointment. It did moisturize, but made my fro shrink up terribly. I've never had a moisturizer do that to my hair before. It was weird, immediately after I applied it my hair just felt very tight and compacted. My hair is a coarse 4a/b though.

I love your hair, LaToya! Are you in that awkward growth stage like me?

Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
Thanks fleur! I have a lot of shrinkage in that pic, but our hair does look to be about the same length. I guess it's not too bad because we're not at the point where we have to style our hair--wash n go's are still ok! lol Why do you call it the awkward stage?
Re: Shea Moisture Hair Products!
The awkward stage is when it's not a teeny weeny Afro, but you can't put it in a ponytail, either. My hair is growing wherever it wants to (and not all of it is doing that), so styling is getting annoying, lol. There is a lot of tuck and rolling going on.
