I'm ready to Big Chop and need help!!!
I want to do my Big Chop tomorrow myself and don't know a good way to tell the difference between the two textures. I heard using conditioner was a good way to tell. Any other ideas?

I would say just wash it. You should be able to see the straight ends w/o adding conditioner. Good Luck

I did the same thing as Ebbz. Just make sure you have some hair shears (ones made specifically for hair) so you don't get split ends. I actually filmed some of mine if you want to take a look

Have a chair ready...it will take longer than you think! Just go slow and take breaks as you need them. Can't wait to see pics! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I just cowashed, detangled and started cutting. You may need someone to help or hold a mirror for the back. Also, I still had to trim missed ends during the first week after the bc. Have fun!

I admire you brave ladies for doing your own BC --- I was too chicken and went to my hairdresser. She just spritzed water and started snipping away.

@ Kicha- your hair has a lovely shape! That's the benefit of having a professional do it. The only reason I did it is because if I messed up, I would only have myself to blame. I didn't want to be mad at the hairdresser.

I had that same problem....they would pop up after washes or after applying gel for my wash and gos and i would just snip them right off.
