Vegetable Glycerin
Hi curlies!! I tried to search for it on the forum, but I am trying to get a quick answer. I want to try to find it when I go out at lunch time. But, where can I purchase some vegetable glycerin that is not online? We do not have a whole foods in our area. What is the name brand that you've purchased? Do you think Walgreens or Rite Aid or any of the pharmacys might have them? Thanks! Oh, I took more pictures over the weekend. I'll have to post them later so you'll see my progress since last week. Not fighting the dryness as much, but trying to get the curls to come in. Right now, it looks more like a "nappy" fro, according to my husband. So, he picked it out for me yesterday. Granted it looked neater, but I want to try to get my curls and picking it out is not helping. Sorry, I'm rambling. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

If you have a Vitamin Shoppe in your area, they sell a kind called Nature's Answer.

I purchased a small bottle from Whole Foods. They only carry one brand. I like it very much.

Thanks mitchj35! I think I'm going to have to make a trip back to the vitamin shoppe to get mine. I thought I could have found it in the organic section of the grocery store, but no. Either that, or I may order online with some other stuff.
Re: Vegetable Glycerin
I ended up ordering it from Amazon.com and I just received it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Okay, now I thought it was going to be in the bottle with purple writing, that's what I selected. But, it is still from Now Foods but is in the clear bottle. It still says 100% pure vegetable glycerine versatile skin care. I guess it's still the same, right? I mean it says that it is multi-purpose. I'm going to try to insert the picture. I hope it comes out. [img:20f7]http://www.curlynikki.forumotion.com/[/img]

Great! Now, I'm not sure about the portion of that to water though. I don't want it to be too oily, but I want enough. I have the little round spray bottle that I bought from Sally's. It may be about 8z size?
Re: Vegetable Glycerin
Oeww! now that you will have to just experiment. I know with my spritz that I came up with was some aloe vera gel, veg glycerin, water, and a little aubreys conditioner. I really didn't measure. I just put how much of each in a spray bottle and shook it. I did however realize that the veg glyercin was oil so I use maybe 2 tablespoons. And about a cup-n-1/2 of water. I didn't fill up my bottle. With all ingriedents combined I probably had about 1-2 cups in the spray bottle all together. I did that because I didn't know what I was doing, and if I didn't like the consistency, It wouldn't have hurt my feelings to start all over again. However, I really liked how it turned out. My recommendation if you do get some aloe vera, make sure its the juice not the gel. I say that because its lumpy in the mixture. I hope this helps.

Ooo, this is good. I have the aloe vera juice too. I think I'm going to try the juice, glycerin, water and some type of leave in conditioner. I'm not sure yet. I may leave that out the first time and just use the other stuff. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm about to go and co-wash now though. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
