You have beautiful sisters and you look great! You hair doesn't look thin to me, but I know how you feel - just want more hahahahaha.

I may have to try the avacado and amino acid. Did you put the avacado in the blender?

I'm finding that using the shea butter I put on my body as a styler is working out pretty well. I can't apply it 2 days in a row though because my hair will be too greasy. But I've been applying it over the weekend with a little leave in condish and I like the results.

Your sisters and you look great! I bet the men were turning their heads wherever y’all went. Another location to put on my go visit list. The water looks pristine and clear.

I think the avocado has some protein in it. I’ve seen liquid amino acids in my local health food store. Do you just add it to DC mixes? If not, how else do you use it?

Thanks Sweet, but you don't see all that scalp at the top in front? Maybe I'm just super concious about it. :/

Thanks Chrs! We had a great time!
I didn't know avocado had some protein in it...good to know! Yes, I just add the liquid aminos to whatever DC I'm doing. I don't have the time to do separate deep treatments so I do them all in one when I can!

Morning JCurl...

Congratulations on being featured on EtsyMom's blog!!! I plan to make a purchase shortly. I need another hat for the winter.

I love your pictures from the cruise. You and your sisters are beautiful!! You look like you had a ball, and you hair was soo pretty!! So salt water is a natural curl enhancer? Looks like that from your pictures.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello...I haven't been by in a while!!

Have a great week!

Hey KNH! Thanks for the compliments! Yes we had a great time on the cruise. Yes, saltwater does enhance curls. This is why I used to add magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) to my flaxseed gel. Haven't done that in a long time though.

Thanks for stopping by!

The other day I went to the beauty supply store to get more Crinkles & Curls and noticed that Taliah Waajid now has a Curly Curl Cream. Not like I need another styler but I bought it. I've used it a few times. A little goes a long way. It has no cones, parabens, or mineral oil. I think shea butter is at the top of the list. But it makes my hair feel producty.

The lady who owns the store also showed me that Kera Kare now has a line for naturals. I saw one cream for curly hair that had amla and shikaki (sp?) in it! I'm not sure I've seen that before in a product that I can just buy at the beauty supply store. It's not cheap though...they cost like $14 and up.

For now I'm just going to stick to what's been working Smile

I've been thinking the same thing! I'm working on a cowl for myself but I'd also like to make some type of shawl.

Post by jamaicacurl 8th October 2010, 6:30 pm

Due to the cold front we had this past week, I straightened my hair last sunday and wore it straight this week. Haven't worn it straight to work in over a year!!! I managed to really use limited amount of heat by putting applying a little coconut oil at night and putting it in 2 bantu knots, and putting on my silk scarf. The next day it would have big wurls.

jamaicacurl - Page 32 Cowl_c10

I remember it used to be the norm and then curly became the norm! Of course I got the oohs and aahs and "oh your hair looks so good like that!" but one co-worker really got to me! I know she was half-joking but at a staff meeting, she was sitting behind me with a few others. I did hear them commenting on my hair and how long it was and then BAM! This chick pulled on my hair and when I turned around she asked "Marsha is that a weave?" WTH?? Of course I told her no but she couldn't believe that my hair had grown that much (BSL) since the last time she saw it straight. I wanted to say "heffa that was over a year ago!!" But I kept my cool and let her know if a tactful way that it was all mine. I couldn't beleive she did that! I swear it took me back to middle and high school when girls I didn't even know would either pull my hair or put their hands in my hair to feel for tracks! I didn't even know what tracks were back then! Can't believe a grown woman would do something like that! Anywho...that was that.

As the days went on my hair got kinda limp and it really is much thinner when straight so I really started to miss my curly hair, And actually to my surprise, I got comments from a few people that they missed my curly "wet and wavy" too LOL! So today I gave it a good wash and let it sit in a cocktail of Brahmi, olive oil, avocado oil, glycerine, Jojoba oil and some Curls Coconut conditioner. I put on a plastic cap, did some things around the house for a while and washed it out. I then conditioned with some more of the Curls Coconut conditioner and rinsed. I applied GVP Conditioning Balm as a leave in and plopped. No stylers today, just want to give my hair a break. Plus, the deep treatment really left it feeling moisturized and soft so I was afraid I would over condition or weight down my curls with added stylers. It's still a bit wet and I don't expect it to look perfect. Probably a bit fuzzy but I'll see how it comes out.

And you know me...always ready to knock a heffa out when it comes to the hair. You did good. I can't say that I would have passed that test.
