Phoenix may not rise again. I've got heat damage. Do I need to cut the damaged hair off?

when did you get the heat damage? I don't for sure what to do, but I'd lean towards being extra nice to it for awhile. baby it and maybe it will come back curly? i'd give it a few weeks to see what happens before i cut it off.

Someone else on the board thought they had heat damage too and someone suggested to deep condition like you have never deep conditioned before! Throw in a couple or hot oil treatments too and like you said, just baby it for about a month.

Don't be so quick to cut it! It will grow out eventually and through deep conditioning and babying, it can start to behave like your normal hair.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I have the same issue, I have babied it, deep condition it, etc for about a month now and It still looks a mess, I look like I have two different hairstyles at once. One side the curls are loose/straight and on the other some are tight an dnow my wash and goes are flat.... Should I cut? I really dont want to

@ Simply Moi - You can transition your heat damaged area. Trim it little by little as it grows out. If you dont want to do that, your only other option is to cut it.

I agree with Lynnie, I have some heat damage in the front of my hair and I trim gradually...

I have heat damage too .. I just stopped using the flat iron in March and ever since I've been doing a lot of DC & protein treatments, hot oil .. you name it. My hair looks a lot better and def. feels a lot better too. I've also used the baggy method a few times worked wonders .. give it a try.

i have this same problem
it's so fustrating. the ends of my hair are extremely thin now i had been using a flat iron every month for about 3 years
i'm thinking to let them grow out and then cut it a couple months down the line.

Oh my ladies....I have the same problem. I never flat ironed my own hair; Ive always went to the salon (the 3x's Ive had it straightened). I BC in Feb 2009 and enjoying since until a few months ago. I got it st8'd it for the first time in 11/09, no problem, curls bounced back. 2nd attempt: for a wedding, 04/10..no prob..curls bounced back..then the last attempt 10/10..another wedding and washed my hair it was the worst...the ultimate fail...It's on one side, the ends are straight and thin.. I dont know what to do.. I hear to get it trimmed. Pls help!
