Trimming natural hair Empty Trimming natural hair

My hair has been noticeably shedding lately [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and I think it may be time for a trim. I have 4a/4b tightly coiled hair; [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] my coil looks like the small coffee stirrers when wet. I called myself trimming my hair myself for the first time 6 months after my bc but I don't think that was enough. I am so lost when it comes to trimming natural hair and I don't want to experience the horrors of the scissor happy stylist in the dmv. My one year anniversary from my bc was in April and it's DEFINITELY time for a trim. I've purused to videos on youtube and only found ways to trim hair after straightening. Any suggestions on stylist to try or advise on how to DIY would be greatly appreciated!

I twist my hair after washing. After completing each twist, I cut as much as needed from each twist. This is the easiest way for me. No straightening.

I agree with labon10.

I recently trimmed my hair and used the same method. I was extremely easy and very effective!

Give it a try. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] If you don't trim off enough you can always go back snip a little more.
