This just made me laugh...
"Try not to wash your hair every day, water is very drying to hair (not the shampoo). If you take a shower but opt not to wash your hair, protect your hair with a shower cap."

you're not actually making your skin wet; you're making it dry cuz wen you get out of the shower you get ashy and have to put on lotion..........................................

Re: This just made me laugh...
I've noticed over the past couple of weeks or so that on the days when I co/wash or shampoo....even after moisturizing and sealing...whenever my hair drys it feels crunchy. I don't get the crunchy feeling on days that I just spritz with my leave in of yes to carrots conditioner, distilled water, and essential oils. I don't know if it's because the water here is hard or what...but my hair does seem to dry out whenever I put water on it. It sucks being the odd ball [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Try moisturizing your hair using the Chicoro technique...
water based product
oil
cream based product
In that order....I apply Giovanni Direct Leave In, coconut oil and my shea butter mix....moisturized hair for a few days.

Ha, I remembered my mom complimenting on my hair and asked how I got it to look so moisturized and I was like, "Oh, I just sprayed some water on my hair." and my mom was like, "Water? Water's gonna dry it out." [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: This just made me laugh...
It's wierd because this is partially true for my hair. Whenever I wash its nice and soft and when it dries it because very frizzy and dry. That's why I don't wash everyday or even cowash. My hair ends up feeling like straw, but after I moisturize it like two days later it's back to normal and it feels nice and soft again. Wierd huh? to say this is incomplete is an understatement. It wasn't well written. The meaning is buried and it's really does misinform. Too bad.

What you said though is that when wet it is nice and soft. When hair is wet it's at it's optimum moisture level. Because water is what actually gives your hair moisture. Perhaps the products you are using isn't sealing in the moisture properly. I'm not at all advocating washing your hair daily. I don't, so do what works best for you. But if you are experiencing dryness I don't think it's the wash alone, but moisture retention. Like Lynnie said, I'd suggest Chicoro's method (water, oil, cream) It is working wonders for my hair. HTH.
Btw, that post was quite ridiculous. How can water be drying when our bodies need it to live? We are mostly made of water. It quenches your thirst. The list goes on...
But I'll admit, when I was relaxed, I thought the same thing.

Do you just put it in the hair, then put the oil, then put shea butter on to seal it?

Re: This just made me laugh...
i section my hair off, apply the giovanni, then my shea butter mix and light amount of jojoba oil to the ends to seal

Water does dry the hair, it remove the moisture in the hair... Try wetting it and not putting any moisturizer and watch what happens. I use Aveda Damage Control to saturate my hair to opt from wetting my hair and it works wonders... My hair isn't as dry!

Re: This just made me laugh...
Water dries the hair? isn't that an oxymoron? For the ladies who are having issues with dry hair after using just water its probably because water evaporates so easily, like the other ladies have said, you are probably having issues with moisture retention. I have to admit though, I did used to think the same thing, but it turned out to be my shampoo not the water (contrary to what the article says)

Re: This just made me laugh...
There are too many variables involved to just say "water dries your hair"
Is the water hard?
Do you use a water softner?
What is the percentage of chemicals your city adds to your water?
I washed my hair with filtered water before and did not apply any product afterward and my hair was so soft! When I wet my hair EVERYDAY in Jamaica my hair was soft.
I lived in a city 30 minutes away from my present location and after using the water where I currently live I can tell a difference in the way the water in two different locations affects my hair.
