I'm going to have to check out the garnier color shield condish you mentioned. Since I colored my hair now I need conditioners that will help preserve my color/prevent fading.

@renny i still havent tried anything super expensive, but i'm gonna order some oyin soon, and then probably on my nappiversary i'll treat kendall to a steamer and a couple high-end products...however alot of cheap products work just as good or better than expensive ones sometimes

I need a pomade and I've been looking at Oyin alot. I had been thinking about Jane Carter even thought it's pricey but it has shea butter in it. I'm looking for something without shea butter, so the Oyin is looking good. I'm thinking about the Burnt Sugar Pomade or the Shine and Define. Both are just over my $10 limit. I have to find them though. I don't want to order.

Which product are you thinking about trying?

thanks! im getting the burnt sugar pomade...unless u go to baltimore i dont think you'll find oyin on the ground, you'll have to order...i was thinkin about that too b/c on curlmart and the oyin website shipping is like 7 or 8 dollars so your really payin like 20 bucks for one thing...they need to have a free shipping code lol...but the jane carter i've seen at vitamin shoppe...i hear nothing but good things about the nourish and shine but i still cant justify the price lol...i might try her leave in or setting lotion though

I've heard nothing but good things about Jane Carter too. She has a sample pak or travel pak. I thought it might be worth trying. My hair doesn't do well with shea butter, but then it does with Shea Moisture Curling Milk, so sometimes depending on the other ingredients I get good results.

My friend told me about a great shop downtown called Sage Naturals. She has alot of different products there and you can test them. Maybe Ill find something there. I like to support small businesses. We'll see. I definitely need a pomade though.

I just ordered from curlmart and they had 15% off which took care of the shipping. They also have free shipping for orders over $60 (code-freeship60). I think if you are ordering a few different products from different lines that's the way to go.

wng...shrinkage in full effect...my wngs fall so awkwardly now so i have to put bobbypins in random places for it to look decent...i had major shrinkage today though...i used moisture maniac and sealed with castor oil...i lloooovvvee moisture maniac...its VERY moisturizing, even if i dont seal my hair is still soft the next day...however its slip isnt mind blowing...but it smells so good i would use a lil bit just for scent alone...and its also expensive...reg. like 22 or 24 at target but i got it at tj max for 12.99...i also saw it at ulta on sale for 12.49...which is still alot (esp. for broke college students like me) and its the most i ever spent on a conditioner (probably any hair product period), so i wont use this everyday, and i would only buy it at most 2x a year on sale...

a much better alternative for ppl on a budget is aussie moist...moisture for days and amazing slip...its my fave ...sometimes i mix aussie moist and moisture maniac and its like the best of both worlds...

I keep hearing Aussie Moist is great. I'll have to try it once I go through my current line up. I have so much conditioner I'll be co-washing with it into next summer.

it is...and its only $5 for the big bottle with the pump...i use it for everything...co-washes, spritz bottle, leave-in...u could probably use it as a DC too w/ some oils added in...but i use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle as a deep conditioner (for longer than 3 minutes) mixed w/ oils and sometimes honey and it just melts all tangles and my hair is soft like butter afterwards

Love looking at your hair pictures! Your curls are always so shiny. It is growing nicely. You will have your hair in buns and ponytails in know time.

this weekend i washed my hair and DC'd (it had been weeks since i clarified and DC'd)...i used giovanni 50:50 shampoo...i pre-poo'd with vatika oil...that stuff makes my hair soooo soft, but it stinks...do all ayurvedic herbs/oils smell bad??? i detangled with gvp version of paul mitchell the detangler.....omg it melted all my tangles and made my hair sooooo soft i couldnt believe it...i love it...i tried it on my mom 2 who i know hasnt properly detangled in months (probably since her BC, or DCd which i did for her today and it was amazing)...i DC'd with raw honey and aussie moist and castor oil overnight and today i rinsed it out and put in some sheamoisture leave in and sealed with castor oil...when my hair dried it was soooo soft and silky...i couldnt stop touching it...idk if it was the leave-in, the DC, the castor oil, or the fact that i clarified, or a combo of all that...i wanted to do a protein DC, because even though im protein sensitive, i havent used any since i BC'd so i probably need it, but i want to do it right before i get my weave installed (next week) for added strength, but i didnt want to do it twice in a row...
