Well I thought I would add this, My name is Monique, Mo, Momo, Mopey, Moyo! Anything my family deems cute and that fits me. I have been married for 13 yrs to my high school sweetheart. I have three children, Dominique she is 14 and natural my boys Freddie and Isaiah are 9 & 7, and I just today adopted two cats we named them Bentley Micah (white, odd eye) & Aioki Lee (she is siamese) I am a VERY upbeat person, I love to laugh and I love to help if I can. I'm currently a Sub teacher love it! After I am finished with school I am going for my certification in Sp.Ed that is where my passion to teach is. I worked in a ABA school with Autistic children and that is how I knew what i wanted to do. After I finish my B.A. I will be going for my M.A. in what??? I don't know GOD will lead me and I will follow!

welcome mo aka aquarius! that's gonna be easy for me to remember cuz it reminds me of my sign (jan. 26..wooop-wooop)!

great intro and i love how u actually have a PASSION to teach becuz u definitely need to have a passion and WANT to teach these kids. i hate how some teachers take their profession as just another job and for a paycheck which lacks the enthusiasm and love to teach these kids and results in them not caring whether they pass or fail. i definitely applaud teachers becuz they dont get the respect and INCOME their deserved. so thanx mo for havin that extra drive to teach!!

I wish you were here in MS. My son (2 yrs old) was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder about 2 months ago. Specialist around these parts are almost not existent. Right now he is seeing an ABA specialist once a week (I wish we could go more) and a speech therapist once a week. Since I am a stay at home mom, I am also working with him here everyday. He has been tested twice and is expected to possibly loose his diagnosis by the time he is school age (5 yrs old).

If you have any info, websites, books to read that you could share with me, I would greatly appreciated!!!

I decided to name my hair DADA it means "curly hair" in Yoruba and it is also a acronym for Dull Ass, Dry Ass, because that is sometimes how I feel about my curls...... No

Lynnie I wish I was there too!!! I love working with my ASD children! That is partly why I am torn about my M.A. I want to get certified as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) a M.A. in ABA or just a regular Ed M.A. with a BCBA cert!!
It is very hard to find a GOOD specialist anywhere except for the West coast they have the best ABA schools and BCBA's in the US. You are doing right by keeping up on his therapy, good for you! i see so many cases that the parents just kind of let the child "be" and no one wins and the child regresses more....I am glad he is going to loose his diagnosis by 5, Although I have never heared of a child doing so scratch or did they mean he is going to be further up the spectrum? I will do some asking around about this, and I would be glad to share anything that I think can help you as a parent, I know I am so glad you hunted me down and "branded" me to join Laughing

What I think they meant by that is that you wont be able to tell he has autism. He doesnt have the typical behavior issues that you see in children with autism. He is actually quite well behaved. He has been tested again since his initial diagnosis in Feb because the ABA specialist didnt think he had autism. *** Blog Slacker insert pity look here***Curly_Aquarius Icon_scratch Now that it is "official, official" she loves working with him and is excited about his possible outcome. I know he is still too young for us to know but I think he would fall under Aspergers syndrome. He's so smart it is almost scary.

I was so excited because today after he finished his milk, he told me "All gone" and handed me his cup. I could go on and on tell you about my lil man...love em too death. Here's a pic of him from Easter *** Blog Slacker insert pity look here***Curly_Aquarius 7_mont78

Lynnie he is too cute! And yes any child high or low on the spectrum are very intelligent and they will amaze you in every way:), I love working with any child with a positive attitude! And girl you can go on and on about him believe me it makes me fell good to speak with a mom like yourself, And anything I find out I will most def share with you. A school I sub at one of my good friends son attend he is 3 and has been just diagnosed with Autism she told "Monique, I love his teacher, I really do but I love it when you are there and Matthew knows the difference." That made me feel good that she knows I am a good teacher and that I look out for her son as well as my other students I love them all:)
