DUDU-OSUN BLACK SOAP Empty DUDU-OSUN BLACK SOAP

Post by .nikki.b. 19th April 2010, 3:23 pm

Okay I started using black soap less than a month ago. At first I was using African Black Soap Shea Butter, but I ran out and couldn't find anymore. So I decided to get some Dudu-Osun Black Soap. I used it about 2 or 3 times. Today when I got in the shower I started my normal routine and began washing my face with the Dudu-Osun (avoiding my eye area). As I began to wash the rest of my body I quickly noticed that my face began to burn! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So I hurried to wash it off but it kept burning.. I repeatedly rinsed my face with the water and it continued. So now I'm out of the shower, I dried my face and it is still burning!!!!! I don't know what to do or if this is normal with Dudu-Osun. The other black soap I used before never burned unless I got it in my eyes or used it in that wrong place; if you know what I mean (learned the hard way it's not supposed to be used down there [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ). Idk if my skin is being irritated by me switching to a different soap or maybe this brand isn't for my skin.

Is this normal for Dudu-Osun users?

I'm scared and confused. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have NEVER experienced that. Check bottle to see if it has a lot number and expiration date and if it does give them a call and let them know what happened. I have used Dudu-Osun daily for over a year and I've never experience burning. Did is burn on any other part of your body that it got onto?

No it's only on the lower part of my face. On the sides of my nostrils and on my chin. The rest of me is fine. It's calmed down a little but it still burns. I haven't put any moisturizer on it yet but maybe it will stop if I do...

Yes, try the moisturizer. The soap may have dried out your skin and dry skin can feel like burning. I would use the heaviest moisturizer possible.

Okay I put the moisturizer on and it's burning!
It burns really bad when I touch the area on my chin. The area around my nostrils don't burn anymore but my chin is going crazy. There isn't any redness or rash.
It seems to only burn on one side of my chin/jaw area..

Okay....I would rinse that off and just let my face sit or slap on some Neosporin. If the burning does not go away I would visit urgent care. You really should not be burning that bad. Now I'm scared of my bottle

Post by .nikki.b. 19th April 2010, 4:37 pm

The burning has calmed but it's really wierd because it's only like that in one area. I recall having a rash in the same area a little while ago. I'm thinking it has something to do with that.
The first few times I used it on my face nothing happened but today is just crazy. I'm thinking I should try to find the first brand that I used. Dudu-Osun might not be for me.

That's what it sounds like. I hate that too because this soap had worked great for me and I wish everyone got the same results.

Maybe I will wait a few days and give it another chance and see what happens. It's still feeling a bit irritated so I'm going to let it calm down and see what happens. Thanks so much! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I didn't mention this because I wanted to check my bottle first but...you mentioned you had a rash, well the soap has lemon and lime juice in it. Maybe the citric acid is what causes the burning with a lot of people.

I know that this is not funny but reading this situation with you and Tia I had to chuckle because it is so cute how supportive we are of one another.

Even though I just said I was going to try the DuDu soap. I may rethink that one though.

Wow...maybe we should just stick to the raw black soap. I hope you guys have a better experience with the raw soap. I have never had problems with it except that it can be drying if you use too much--a light lather is best. And I had no idea you weren't supposed to use black soap in ur private area. However, I did experience the burning down there so I stopped immediately. I wonder why it does this.

Post by drawmuhfree 28th April 2010, 1:50 am

now I remember......

I had stopped using black soap and I couldn't remember why, but you ladies have jogged my memory. My skin did NOT like the Dudu soap, but I went out and bought some raw black soap this past weekend and have have great results so far. I think that staying as natural as possible is going to be the key for me with my skin, my hair and my diet.

I had problems with Dudu-Osun being a little to strong for my skin as well, but as others have said, it depends on each person's skin.

I make a foaming face wash out of black soap and it has done good on my sensitive skin. I also sell black soap and a liquid black soap that my son loves and has really helped clear up his teenaged skin.

There is something with the African Black soaps which tend to burn the skin. Does anyone know exactly what is in black soap? I've used pure African Black and that burns almost my entire body. I recently bought a huge cake mixture of Shea butter and black soap and that really burned. The burning lasted all day. I'm using Du Du Osun. It's very cleansing but it can be a little drying. It's probably the lemon juice and I think it also has lime juice.

That makes total senseTiashauntee. I think about how if I get a lot of lemmon juice on my hands while squeezing a lemmon it does tend to burn my hands.

I've used DuDu-Osun for 10 years now and I've never experienced any burning. I'm not sure how everyone else uses it but I usually let it lather in my hands and then rub my hands over my body instead of applying the soap directly to my face. If you're applying the soap directly, try lathering it in your hands first then apply to the face/body and see if that helps with the burning. Hope that helps!
