EVOO? How do u use it?!
Ok so i know a lot of you rave abt EVOO, so i was wondering how do u use it? I noticed that some of u use it as a hot oil treatment and some of u use it on a daily basis. I tried castor oil as a deep conditioner along with the ORS Replenishing Conditioner, but after washing it out it felt like it was still stuck to my hair, and it weighed my curls down. I seem to have 3b curls in the back and on the sides and 3c curls at the crown and the front, so im wondering if EVOO will work well on my hair and not weigh down my 3b curls like castor oil did.

EVOO is a lighter oil than the castor oil, so you shouldn't have too many worries about it weighing your hair down. It also gives a nice shine/sheen, is a good sealant, and makes a good pre-poo.
Note: the ORS Replenishing condish is pretty thick by itself--a lighter oil or nothing at all will keep that "stuck" feeling at bay.
Hope this helps!

Yes that does help, thank u!! I brought that Aussie 3 minute miracle so hopefully it'll work well with EVOO and coconut oil for my DC this weekend!

I think you'll like EVOO if you found castor oil too heavy (as I did). I tended to use EVOO in my deep conditioners especially during the winter months and loved it. In summer, I switched to grapeseed oil, which is another light oil but I had to give that up as it was giving me a lot of pimples. I switched to rice bran oil and so far so good.

@R2D2 - is EVOO only good for the winter? Or is it good to use year round?

Yes I do find EVOO a bit heavy for summer. But your hair might be quite different and thrive on it. It's a case of listening to your hair and adjusting your mix as required.
I just find my hair has different needs in the winter compared to the summer. My hair needs more nourishment in winter and I find EVOO great for that. In the summer it tends to need more moisture with a limited amount of nourishment. I also add aloe vera gel sometimes as well. However, even in summer, I have to be careful not to go overboard with the moisture because my hair loves protein too and gets weak without it.
The biggest breakthrough for me in learning how to care for my natural hair was listening to it and figuring out what it needs. You can do this by keeping a diary and looking for a pattern. I now know when to clarify, when it desperately needs protein, moisture and henna and so on.

I got my EVOO from kroger, and it was the kroger brand...$2.59! I didn't wanna buy the expensive stuff in case it didn't work on my hair, but it worked beautifully!

I use olive oil spray (the regular cooking kind like Pam) for a light OO treatment on occasion. I flip upside down, spray my underside very lightly, then flip right-side up and repeat. Sounds freaky, but it works like a charm [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I use my EVOO for oil rinses. I wash my hair (co wash or shampoo) then I rinse my hair. Next I apply the EVOO to my hair ( About 3 or 4 hand fulls) then I apply the conditioner of my choice on top of the EVOO, massage it into my hair and let it sit while I handle my shower needs, then I rinse it all out. It makes my hair so soft. Hope this helps.

So are people only using EVOO mixed with a conditioner or other ingredients or is it something to be applied directly on your scalp
