Re: SisterBoyd
Hey ladies! Thanks for loving my hair porn...hahahaha I would have never thought to do it if Blondie hadn't done it first. I'm tempted to do a back shot but I would need help with taking the picture hahaha
Anyhoo...nothing really special with my hair today as I'm still rocking the KCCC. I'm going to see Rachelle Ferrell tonight so I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to wear my hair. Up, down, big, hanging...who knows. But I have a new camera so I will do my best to take some pictures - now I just need to remember to take the pictures hahaha
Hopefully, I'll get some pictures this weekend. I have a great weekend planned...Rachelle, Steve Harvey, and my son in the LA Marathon...wooo hooo!!!! Momma's gonna have fun this weekend! And I need to make mac'n'cheese to feed the runner Saturday afternoon too...and wash clothes and clean my desk...and get some work done...ok let's focus on the fun!

Re: SisterBoyd
Rachelle sanging...not singing
The concert was great! She sang her heart out. Unfortunately, I was seated behind a pillar so I didn't get the best shots. However, that didn't hinder the full experience of a wonderful NATURAL sister who has been truly blessed by God with awesome talent. This is my third time seeing her live and every time I end up leaving thanking the Lord for the talent and awesome gift He has given to her.

Re: SisterBoyd
Thanks ladies! I had a great time Now I'm getting my son ready for the marathon tomorrow and myself together for Steve Harvey tonight...wooo hooo I'm going to see the 'kang' hahahaha!
As far as hair news, I spritz'd this afternoon before leaving for my son's running teams annual luncheon. I wore the same pinned up style from last night.
I'll probably cowash on Monday. I have no idea what I'm doing tonight...pictures will be posted soon

Re: SisterBoyd
Thanks MC!
I'm still very tired from my full weekend. My son had a really good run in Sunday's marathon. He beat his time from last year by a 1 1/2 hours. He actually hit it like a monster! I worked the 11 mile check point that his team runs and when he came through he was focused, energized, and in no pain. He just wanted his water and took his gummy bears and it the course. When I saw him at the 26th mile he saw me threw up the dueces and hit the last .2 mile. Next thing I heard was his name being announced for completing the LA Marathon! No I didn't cry...right then Yes, I'm a very proud mommy!
On another note I never knew helping at the marathon would be such a spiritual experience. I passed out water to the runners and the Lord blessed me so much. I can't even put it into words what I got, but it was from the Lord Himself and I'm so thankful for the experience. There are some wonderful people who run this marathon and I've been so blessed to be able to help them meet their goal.
In hair news I washed my hair yesterday and put my hair in about 9 bantu knots. That was about 6 or 7 last night and my hair is still wet. I might have to pull out the dryer. I cowashed with VO5, used "fixed" SunSilk Leave-in for curls and moisture. I left that in a ponytail because I had a few errands to run. When I got back I applied Moisture Maniac to get my comb through my hair with ease and I twisted with a mix of lock and twist gel and JBCO. I left it uncovered until I put my satin bonnet on when I went to bed. I took the bonnet off when I got out of bed, but my hair is still wet. ummm! I took a few knots down and they were no where near being dry. So we may have to see what happens tomorrow.

Re: SisterBoyd
i wanna run/walk in a marathon so bad... atleast a 5k once in my life (im such a procrastinator) how do u get to volunteer as a "water girl"? lol, i wouldnt mind doing that either. oh about the plopping, I know that was several pages ago but is plopping best for ladies who wear their hair out or can anyone do it?

Re: SisterBoyd
Keisha, you should do it! As far as the 'water girl' (imma get you for that one) find a team who does it or you can find you a spot along the route and set up a table. Check the LA Marathon site. I was working with my son's team. However, I'm sure there is volunteer information on the website.
Plopping is a drying method - it will removed excess water, but not the needed moisture our hair needs. I'm sure you can plop before you twist or roller set if you wanted to.
...and how are you missy?

Re: SisterBoyd
Oh I forgot to ask...as anyone used safflower oil in the hair or on their skin? I bought some in place of olive oil. Now I'm trying to find some info and all I see are the nutritional benefits.

Hey lady, congrats to your son! I know you were proud.
I tried glycerin and water to refresh my WnGs the last few days. I will have to play around with the mixture. I will keep you posted. Do you use it to refresh your hair? What does it do for you?

Chrs, actually I use glycerin and aloe vera gel or juice for my normal leave-in. I mix about 75% glycerin to 25% aloe. I simply pour it in my hand and apply to each section before I apply whatever product I'm using even it its conditioner for the conditioner only. I've tried it with 50% each but my hair was dry. My hair loves glycerin. I've even tried not using my leave-in but my hair would be parched and I would apply my leave-in and my hair would feel mosturized.
Now I have used this mixture in my spritz bottle, but I mix it with something else like conditioner and oil. Now I have a friend who uses the same leave-in (I don't know her measurements) in a spray bottle. However, she's been having moisture issues. We can't use the same products like we used to - I don't know what has changed...

Hi SisterBoyd I saw the safflower oil online and was wondering about it. Did you like the results you got from it?

I know I've been away this week. Every day I say I'm going to go update my thread, but I've been swamped with my BF org and trying to get our first event coordinated. I never thought starting an org would be so involved...duh me!
Well those bantu knots were a bust big time! hahaha
Knots just taken out
A little fluff

Ya know I still haven't used it yet. I'm thinking about cooking with it instead.
