Henna for extreme dry hair
Hello ladies
I am a very new member, and I have a question or two. I have dry hair that is not a big fan of protein, but i want to try henna. I have a considerable amount of gray and am tired of looking like my momma, so I want to cover it, but I dont want to use chemicals. I brought some henna at my local health food store, I made sure it was only pure henna. My question is what is the best thing to mix it with so it wont be so drying on my hair. Ive seen yogurt mention, but i thought it had alot of protein in it, ive also hear the olive oil and honey. I just dont know what receipe to use. Also I am just starting my transitioning and my hair is not very long, so I am really trying to be proactive and establish a healthy routine, but im concern cause at this point the only thing i know to do to my hair is wash blow dry and flat iron, cause of its length. I am aware that constant heat is damaging, so i only put heat on it on wash day, but any suggestions at what else i can do would be appreciated. Any and all suggestions are welcomed

Re: Henna for extreme dry hair
I would suggested checking out the Henna mix thread and seeing if you have a hair twin in there and maybe trying out their mix.

You may want to check into using Hesh Maka Powder (also known as Bhringraj) in your henna mix http://www.amazon.com/Hesh-Amla-Herbal-Powder-100g/dp/B000OZP77C
one of it's benefits is moisture. I used 2 table spoons in my last mix and my hair was the most soft/not dry feeling, (after washing out--no product), it has been since I start using henna.

and that should not make you sad. It should empower you! If we all did with our many different textures, so can you.

Jonezy, thanks I will check my local indian store, I have seen this there. I almost bought it but got the Alma instead.

I really like curlynikkis henna mix. Most henna treatments are dry because of the acids used. Her recipe uses green tea and honey as the only ingredients. There's a tutorial on the blog. The best way to combat dryness is to deep condition after a henna treatment.
