Would love to have a big sister help me with the do's and don't's of natural hair care!!! I love doing protective styles. I do understand a somethings about my hair but I have a long way in my journey !!!
I believe I am a 3c everywhere except my crown which I believe to be 4a. So ready for some insight!!

I am willing to help you. What specific questions do you have?
Re: In Tremendous Need of a Big Sister
What are some products that are great to use ?
At the moment I am using unrefined shea butter, jojoba oil, Olive oil creamy shampoo and their conditioner. I would like to change that cause it seems to make my hair hard.

Re: In Tremendous Need of a Big Sister
I like products that are water based with aloe vera gel, shea butter, cetyrl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and coconut based ingredients as the first five ingredients. Products I can remember off the top of my head are Aubrey Organic's White Camellia and Honeysuckle Rose conditioners, Giovanni 50-50 conditioner and Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration conditioner. It makes my medium textured hair moisturized. I use them as leave ins, DCs and moisturizers.
I have not heard of the Olive oil creamy shampoo and conditioner. What are their ingredients?
If your hair is hard, you may have to try the items alone to see which one is causing it. If none are causing it alone, try mixing two until you find out what combination is causing the hardness. Let me know if this helps.

I will let you know asap. Thanks. Oh... How did you learn to part your hair for braids or twist if you did them ?

Re: In Tremendous Need of a Big Sister
Actually, I have been doing my own hair for the most part since I was nine years. Over 28 years of practice has helped. You can use a couple of mirrors. I start with my finger and clean the parts up with a rattail comb or clip.
