How to create a FroHawk
I make several attempts to create a fro hawk style. What do people use to hold the fro hawk in place? My bobby pins were not strong enough. Let me know... thanks!

I'd like some help on this topic too. I have the same problem so always give up and leave it in a puff.

Bobby pins don't work for me either. I tried side combs and they worked better but I could feel that they would not stay put for an entire day. The best thing that works for me are twist and cornrows. I have found the right "tool"
Re: How to create a FroHawk
I really hope someone can chime in on this topic because I was considering "trying" the FroHawk for New Year's Eve, but don't want to wear it if its not going to turn out right! LOL! Its definitely a fab hairstyle though!

Re: How to create a FroHawk
You can try a banana clip on a twist out. I've seen some cute frohawks done with these.
Re: How to create a FroHawk
I have found it easier to use the bobby pins if you don't try to pull the hair straight up, IE if you braid the hair up or flat twist(regular or two strand). Using these methods also helps to make the style last longer.
Re: How to create a FroHawk
I use bobby pins, but I don't pull my hair all the way back. I pull the sides up a little bit and stick in bobby pins. I don't twist or anything, I just pull the sides back. I wish I had pics to show (I'm very bad for taking pics) but hopefully next time I can post it. My frohawk comes out really well.

Re: How to create a FroHawk
Hello Ladies,
I too tried the fro-hawk and it can out great on the first try. I used goody tuck combs ( 2 for 1.00 pack @ wal-mart). However I did try the bobbie pins first and honey it looked a hot puffed out on the sides mess...okay. Then I remembered I bought some tuck combs, so I dug through my hair accessories basket and found them.
On freshly co-washed hair (easier to work with)... I applied Ecostyler gel to the area I wanted to pull up into the style/combs, used two combs on each side (banana clip optional), did a little shake and BOOYAH!!! It's good [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]!!! Here are some images.....

Hi Natural83,
The combs can be found at Wal-Mart. They are two in a pack for $1.00. They come in two colors brown and clear (that I've seen). You can also find them at a Flea Market or a local BSS. Hope this helps.

Beautiful Frohawks
OMGoodness, I want to get up the nerve to try a frohawk. Everyone's looks great. I think doing it on damp hair will work best for me--before it gets too big for a daggone banana clip or combs.
Need Opinions Stat-HIWIP
Need opinions--gonna rock a frohawk tomorrow at a New Year's Day brunch. Nylacoils and you lovelies here were my inspiration, thank you![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Loose curls in front or hump?

Giving all you ladies snaps in the Z formation. These fro-hawks look GREAT! I can't wait to get some more length and try that out.

Frohawk
I used bobby pins to create my first fro-hawk. I put a hump in the front.

Re: How to create a FroHawk
I had a fro/faux hawk a few weeks ago and it's my Avatar pic as well. The girl who did it for me actually blew out the sides of my hair and then braided them up.
On top, she two-strand twisted my hair using Shea Butter and CD's Healthy Hair Butter. When she braided the sides, she just braided them up a little past my scalp and the ends were twisted.
It turned out pretty cute and I used bobby pins to hold down some of the braids when they started to come undone. I have pretty fine hair, so bobby pins may not hold down the thicker hair some of you seem to have. It's a really cute style though!
