I agree with the other ageless beauties, just dont wear ur hair in 2 side ponytails w/glitter eyeshadow. thanx!
Haha. Hilarious about the two side ponies with glitter shadow. I will do two braids at times.

I'm not 30 yet, but a lot of my relaxed friends have told me that I look like a "little girl" when I wear certain styles - usually a ponytail, cornrows, or flat twists. I will continue to wear my "little girl" styles as long as I please because I know they look good. I agree that you should wear your hair however you feel comfortable...forget about those haters!

Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
Thank you! That was one of my "kiddie" ponytails. I kind of did a twist-and-curl on just the ponytail. Its one of my favorite EASY hairstyles.

i am over 30, and I haven't done cornrows simply because my edges are sensitive and I done need the pulling. I do want some two strand twists though.

Our hair is so versatile I really don't think there is an "age-appropriate" style. I'll rock my hair and all it's fierceness depending on my mood. Big and funky or shrunken and simple...I love it all!
Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
I still wear my hair parted down the middle with 2 curly pigtails on each side. But then, I still get carded on the regular for my stogies and my cocktails.
And I'll be 40 in 2 years......

@curls galore- I love the hair accessory in your hair in your avatar! Did you buy it or make it?
Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
I have never done the cornrows - my personality says no! I'm in my mid thirties and I just think a frohawk would not work for me either!!

Big Hair
I rocked big hair (1st time on purpose) for a friend's 39th birthday. I got compliments from ladies here so I decided to let it do what it do![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hey all you over 30's! I've really enjoyed this conversation. I don't know if Bantu Knots are young, but I love them!
Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
I feel natural hair makes us look younger as it is so older woman can get away with wearing younger styles. I mean it's not as if you're going to be wearings beads, barrets and bows on your hair. I made style that is corn rows on the right side and when I first wore it the left side was a twist out pinned up in the back and flowing into my face in the front, which looked very young and "hip" but I afterward I redid the twists and then flat twisted them all into an updo where the front is more or less a pin curl. Looking at it I feel it looks very sophisticated and professional. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable wearing this style to a job or something of that nature. Yesterday I dressed my hair up with feather/flower accessory and wore the style on a date. So it's extremely versitile. There's so much to do with natural hair that won't make you look too young or too old and won't be "unkept" or "unprofessional". It's all about experimenting.
Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
I have been keeping my hair in double strand twists with a wig on to protect it. I did't want my wool hat to damage my real hair. Last weekend I wore my hair out for the first time. I just undid the twists and fluffed a little. And don't you know I got carded at the casino.

Re: Over Thirty & Living Life as a Curly
Well...it seems that I might be the oldest to respond to this, but I know I don't look my age and I love it!!!! I wear my hair in styles that are appropriate to where I'm going ...i.e. church, work or just hanging around!!! It really depends on where I'm going, what I'm wearing and how I feel.
I agree you are as old as you feel, and I've been told several times since my bc and before that I DON'T look my age!!! So ladies over 30, 40 and even curlies like myself that are knocking on the door for 50...do you!!!!!!
