Neem Face Mask
So I am 28 and have had acne since I was about 9. My mother is 62 and still suffering from breakouts, so I have a lot to look forward to!
The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that my skin is sometimes bad and sometimes not-so-bad, but never completely clear. It's extremely oily. So I had heard some great stuff about neem from ChrsLvsBks, and I developed this neem face mask. It has honestly been a lifesaver. My skin is as close to clean as it has ever been. Blackheads and bumps are melting away, and I have not had a new pimple since Thanskgiving.
Now if you have dry or combo skin, this is not for you. This is for the ladies whose forehead is greasy by 10AM. Let me show you.
I start with two ayurvedic powders: Neem and Orange Peel Powder. I also use soy milk, yogurt, and honey.

The two powders together cost about $6, and they are going to last forever.
So you take a bowl, and put in about a teaspoon of neem (this is enough for two to three masks):

Then about 1/4 teaspoon of orange peel powder:

Mix in 2 teaspoons of soy milk and mix to make a paste:

Add one teaspoon of plain yogurt and mix:

Add one teaspoon of honey and mix:

Apply.

Put the remainder in the fridge. It will last for a day in the fridge. I do this mask twice a day and I cannot even explain to you the benefits I have seen. The whiteheads dry up, the blackheads pop out, the pores get smaller, and the yogurt and honey have great moisturizing effects.

Re: Neem Face Mask
Thanks for the pictures. I am having good results with the neem and OCM. I still have acne but the bumps are diminishing (severe break out at the end of October).
I will try this with neem and lemon peel powder (good for oily skin).

Re: Neem Face Mask
Hmmm....this looks interesting. Courtie, do you use a cleanser after the mask or does the mask cleanse the skin? I was thinking about trying a neem soap from Chagrin Valley based on a YouTube video I saw, but this could be a once a week treatment too.

@ChrsLvsBks - I am going to try the lemon peel powder soon!
@traveljunkie08 - The mask cleanses the skin. When I do this in the morning, I use a small, small amount of this cleanser:

Boots Expert Anti Blemish Cleansing Foam (Target!) to make sure I get all the little neem crumbs off my face.
It works great!

Re: Neem Face Mask
Thanks for sharing this mix. I purchased a neem & tea tree oil face bar the other day online. I'm waiting for it to come in so I can try it out. Glad it's working for you, I may have to try this mix as well.
Richeau? If so that's why I purchased the soap the other day. lol

Re: Neem Face Mask
@Courtie: I have one of those products...a serum or something. I may have to check out the cleanser.
@Jonezy: Did you happen to get your soap from Chagrin Valley? That's the one I want to try.

No, I couldn't find it on the Chagrin Valley site (it was late at night, i think I was tired b/c I went back and it was right there on page 2 of the soaps lol) so I got it from Soap Alchemy.
Re: Neem Face Mask
@Jonezy: I didn't see the other part of your post, but yes, Richeau. I have to limit how often I watch her videos though cuz I'd be broke otherwise.
I think I'm gonna go ahead and order the soap from Chagrin Valley. They have some other ones I want to try too.

Re: Neem Face Mask
I tried this on my face and hubbys face last night. I just mixed Neem with a little castor oil as I was too lazy to walk downstairs and get honey. I made it into a paste and let it sit for maybe 10 minutes. We woke up this morning with skin as soft as my sons skin. I'll be doing this again tonight.
Re: Neem Face Mask
We tried it again last night and again I'm liking what I'm seeing. I may start to do this daily and see what I end up with. I have scars from when I used to have bad breakouts and I really want to get rid of them.
Re: Neem Face Mask
Ooh another mask to try! I can't wait to get some neem and try this on me and my GF. I may just plan a whole weekend of pampering!
OT: I am ordering an exfoliating serum from priia.com to try along with doing the OCM. I have balanced skin that leans towards oily and clogged pore on my cheeks are my worst enemy.
I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Re: Neem Face Mask
Hey guys, I make something similar to this out of amla powder water and a little honey...i have oily skin, not alot of breakouts, but my skin is not smooth like i want....also i have major blackheads on my nose and chin and lil white bumps also....soooo nasty i hate them....The amla is definetly helping my skin, its so somooth and hardly any breakouts and i think my blackheads are slowly going away.... As for the neem, ive heard lots of good things about it clearing up acne. My sister brought some type of neem soap for my niece and her face improved dramatically. My indian store didnt have it when i went which is why i didnt get any.
Btw the only reason I add a lil honey is it makes it easier to come off....

Re: Neem Face Mask
Hey Mz Thang, i usually do mine twice a week on on the other days i do the OCM or dove soap...
Re: Neem Face Mask
@Mz.Thang...I was doing this nightly for about a week or two but then like all my other "regimens" lol I fall off. But I believe Courtie said she does it twice a day. I would start off slow and then if you like the results and want to increase the number of days you use it I'd say go for it. I've been seeing great results until recently when I had a breakout but it wasn't due to neem, it was due to my menstrual cycle that I haven't had in nearly a year and a half(pregnancy & breastfeeding) I was so mad it came back. I've always had to deal with a few breakouts around that time of the month but nothing too bad. Ok, I digress lol Let us know how it goes for you.
Re: Neem Face Mask
Ok, so I tried the Neem facial. My only problem with the facial is that it made my eyes tear up. And just to clarify, I did not get this product close or in my eyes. It was kind of like tearing up when you cut raw onions but not as bad. Weird side effect??
