NEEM!!!!
I have battled acne since I was 10 years old, I'm 28 now. I can't stand having bad skin. Nothing has worked -- ProActive, skinID, etc. (I had not tried Differin or Accutane). Anyway on Friday at work I noticed that I had a HUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEE pimple developing on my cheekbone. One of those ones that hurts to touch and you just know it's going to be there for a long time. Under my skin I could feel that it was nearly 1/2 inch in diameter. Those leave dark spots on my skin as well, so I hate those.
So when I went to pick up my henna at the Indian grocer, I saw this:

The box says Gift Of Nature -- they ain't kiddin!
I'd heard about it from ChrsLvsBks, who is a user on here, so I picked it up and figured I'd slap some on that pimple.
I took it home, put about 1/2 a tablespoon in a bowl and mixed with with water to make a paste. Then I added a small dollop of yogurt and about a teaspoon of honey. I mixed it up and slathered it all over my face and let it dry.
WOW.
First of all, when I washed it off, the little grains of Neem were like an exfoliating scrub. It felt great. I got some in my mouth though, and it tasted really really bad.
Then before bed, I took a little more of the paste and smeared it on the big scary pimple, let it dry, and went to sleep. I did this Saturday night and last night as well.
This stuff is a godsend. The Neem has basically defeated the big pimple, but it also has made some blackheads actually disappear, and it is bringing any other pimples I had out and drying them up.
It's only been two days and this stuff has worked better than ANY thing I have ever tried for my acne.
USE THE NEEM!

Re: NEEM!!!!
@ Courtie - can't wait to try this, I have adult acne and like you mentioned, I have tried everything (Proactiv, Ambi, Differin, prescribed acne pills, etc... from the dr and nothing seems to work) they still come back...now I am on birth control and it works somewhat, but I still get them....hopefully, I will have great results with the Neem!

Re: NEEM!!!!
Neem oil was on my list for the gift exchange. I was debating using it in my OCM bottle. I just might have to add some. It smells horrible, but I'll try it.

Does it work for blemishes?

Re: NEEM!!!!
Beautifulyfe, everything I've read said that it works on acne. I did add a few drops to my OCM mixture and I'm still loving the method.
Re: NEEM!!!!
Thanks SisterBoyd I use the OCM as well so I guess I'll try it

Re: NEEM!!!!
I love neem. I have the oil and plan on use a small drop in my oil cleanse. I also put a little drop in my conditioner and leave in. It's also good for growing hair. It's smells bad though. Like a strong peanut oil scent

Re: NEEM!!!!
@ BrownSkinDiva, I haven't used it. I was thinking about using if for my son. He gets the big pimples around his nose & proactive burns his face. So I was wondering if it was safe to work on my son he's 12.

Re: NEEM!!!!
I believe they sell it in Whole Foods...I'm not sure.
I use neem in my son's face wash and moisturizer that I make.
Face wash - castile soap (baby forumla), jojoba, neem, vitamin e and sometimes castor oil
Moisturizer - shea butter, aloe vera or gel, neem, jojoba, vitamin e, and castor oil
You shouldn't have a problem on your son's skin. But play with your mixes to see how they work. Make small batches first and then stick with what works.

Re: NEEM!!!!
Neem is also a natural birth control for both men and women. Haaaay! I have not tried it though.
Re: NEEM!!!!
Hmmm, gonna have to look that one up. I wonder if using it externally prevents conceiving. I've been trying to conceive for a few months now.DreamMerchant wrote:Neem is also a natural birth control for both men and women. Haaaay! I have not tried it though.
Re: NEEM!!!!
I think the women use it externally and the men take a pill. I have not done much research on it yet but what I have read looks promising.

I know I am super late seeing this, but in case you still don't have an answer to this question, they do carry it. I saw it today. There is some in a small bottle with a medicine dropper and there is also a neem cream. The liquid is about $12.00 and the cream $15.00. Oh my, the smell is something I don't know if I could get used to. I was wondering for the people who use the neem powder, is it an obnoxious odor also? Also, has anyone tried it for eczema. I have it on my legs and was thinking of mixing a concoction.

Re: NEEM!!!!
I definitley wanted to try this. Where can I purchase either the powder or oil in Brooklyn? I never realized there was an oil that I could add to my products

Re: NEEM!!!!
For people using Neem. I am curious to know if the Neem powder is just as obnoxious smelling as the oil? Does anyone add another product to help mask the odor?
