hair stylists & natural hair?????

i liked the color and at least he didn't butcher her hair. but maybe if styling agent was applied, her hair would have turned out better, in my op. i liked her before look ... big and free. something about the after-look just didn't appeal to me. what do you think? do you personally know of a stylist that is great at styling natural hair?

Well I think whoever posted the video made a bigger deal than it was. I know the white guy (Nick Arrojo) she is talking about and the newer episodes the black stylist has been doing the styling now. Not because SHE was black. He also has guest styled even before that. I prefer her hair after. Anyways I watch what not to wear religiously and really dont think their is a episode I have not seen but when they style they do it according to the person lifestyle and ability to up keep. I mean what was he supposed to do. Do some awesome elaborate updo just for the sake of giving her a style for the show? Plus I think the color was awesome. I mean their are white girls that go on their to and walk away with some layers and keep it pushing whats any different then what her hair got hair. I also thought the cut framed her better and made her look more hip as well as give her hair more dimensions.

true, i liked the cut and felt that he did a good job framing her face. the color was also nice. but i felt that there could have been more done in regards to actually styling her hair... applying a styling agent to bring out the texture or to define the layers he created. the 'finished' look appeared as if she just stepped out of the shower and towel-dried her hair Neutral

Maybe...he could have but my comment is more towards the lady. She made it is seem because she was natural she was done no justice or anything. The one thing I always like about that show no matter size, type, hair whatso have you they always try to accentuate the woman and the things they already have. Plus not all curlies like super defined curls...

But

I so love your avi! Ive seen your commenting around lol and that hairstyle is simply banging! So freaking stylish FYI

I saw that episode when it aired and i think he did an good job on her hair...he kept it like she like it..wild and free..obviously she isn't really into styling her hair because that's not how she wore it before the makeover..the spice of color was all she needed

I agree with rayray. Not everyone is into curl definers and stuff like that. I'm thinking she wanted the Esperanza-look, free and naked hair.

the comments in the back were funny (i.e. WTF!, lol) .

I think the color looked really good on her. I did like the style of her hair better before he touched it, imo of course.

sorry not in love with it.

I think he did what he felt was best for her. Lil color, add a lil shape for versatility and kept it "low maintenance". I'm sure the client has SOME say in their hair. As long as she liked it, that's all that mattered. The lady that made the video just irked me a little. I guess she expected a total transformation...? Why question his work as a professional when you really only got a piece of the story? i really think she was just looking to be negative. Rolling Eyes
