i love natural hair but afraid of BIG hair share your fro story

as much as I love the natural look I can't bring myself to rock a fro... crazy right? One day I saw this one lady who's fro was HUGE when she got in her car her fro touched the ceiling!!! My thoughts were she should tame her mane... but there are also fros that makes me want to rock one..so I was feeling bold one Sunday and rocked a fro,while sitting in service I saw on the front projection screen this small shadow swaying to the music..it took me two seconds to realize that was me!! The while service I was thinking I wonder if the person behind me could even see pastor on the pulpit...LOL

I looove big hair! I am looking forward to my fro days.

My daughter loves her hair huge and I'm the one trying to persuade her to let me "tame" it. I so want her to love her hair and she does so I hope and pray I don't give her a complex with MY issues.

I've always loved big hair, but for a long time I didn't think it'd look good on ME. It wasn't until I went natural and took up my boyfriend on a dare to wear my hair in a fro that I actually did it. Turned out, I look just fine with big hair.

Honestly I think the bigger the sexier. My white friends are like why do you want an Afro so much? I'm like "I don't like straight hair anymore it doesn't like as nice to me." but I'm really thinking about is why would I want flat hair?

I prefer defined "tamed" hair. I will rock big hair some times but it is rare. I think it is because I am a bigger woman and bigger hair makes me look bigger, IMO.

I love wearing big hair. I always get the most compliments when I'm wearing my big hair too. I wore my big afro to the movies once and as I was coming out, one of the movie theater ushers said, "Oooh! I love your foxy hair! That's hot!"

Thank you! And your twists look great. I do let her wear big hair, moreso on weekends than to school, but today she wanted to wear big hair to school so I left the back out and put the top in a ponytail. So we compromised. lol! This was done on blowdried hair.

Yeah...I can't bring myself to wear my big fro "OUT" in public. I wore it on Halloween, but was okay doing that b/c I was dressed like a rock star. Maybe one day I'll build up the courage to really wear my fro out.

Sometimes Big fro's can be the center of attention I agree. Although I never realized I created attention towards myself because of my hair before this summer (after it bleached out from too much sun exposure and swiming in the pool, turning copery with blond highlights from deep maroon red)

It takes practice and confidence to rock it out. But as soon as you do, there is no turning back!

I will probably never wear my hair in a fro, but I'll wear a big'ish twist-out, braid-out, or puff.

LOL...I was thinking about wearing a fro for Halloween this year! Btw I love your hair... I would be hesitant to wearing mine out if it was as long as yours...It would get way too tangled.

I am loving your profile picture! Now I think I could rock that seems right up my alley... how did you get all of you hair in poof like that what products did you use for holding and its sooo shiny...I love it!!

Thanks for the compliment! To get my hair in a puff I just use a cut piece of pantyhose (tie it around and tighten...hard to explain) and gel. Right now I'm using Ecostyler gel, but I have also used Fantasia IC Aloe Vera gel. Underneath that is Kimmaytube's leave-in conditioner, a shea butter/coconut oil mix, and olive oil.

Thanks for posting that link. I do basically the same thing, but with way less panythose leg. I cut a strip that's about 10 inches long and about an inch wide.

I love wearing my hair in a fro. I want it to get BIG! lol

Lynn your wearing that fro girl... its good to know I'm not the only one who hasnt been comfortable wearing their fro out!

I LOVE wearing my hair big. I guess I'm just used to big hair...when I was relaxed, I always styled it so it was big and messsy - kinda porn star like. LOL.

I love wearing my hair in a fro...it's mostly white people who give me compliments and say "I love your hair!" Other people are like ummm what's wrong with your hair. But I love it in a fro...Can't tell me nothing LOL

I feel self-conscious about wearing my hair big too. It's partly because my mom always asks "What happened to your hair?!?!" with a grimace when my hair is out and big!

I'm starting to appreciate the volume I get from my long (BSL), thick curls because I admire so many other women's big curly hair (like Taren916)...it's just fabulous!

I wore a pufff today thanks bajanprincess and curlybarbi!!! so its a step...still my hair isn't fro material...LOL
