Curlformers as a stretching technique, not as a style

has anyone ever tried this? i usually do dry braid outs or twists out. So i stretch my hair, using braids, but it doesnt get stretched enough for my liking.. So has anyone tried using curlformers to stretch the hair, then, combing or brushing it out, for the REAL style?

any advice will be helpful!

Do you already own curlformers? That would be a lot work (putting the curlformers in) not to wear the style.

i haven't tried curlformers. but based on the tutorials i've seen, i 2nd what lynnie said. if you have really large magnetic/plastic rollers, try using those to stretch your hair.

They are expensive too.

I bought the knock off version that is crazy cheap on ebay.. i havent recieved them but, i want to try different things.
i think curlformers would actually be easier than rollers, imo.

but i have another idea,
what about two strand twisting the section, before putting in the curl former.

i think it would be sumthin like a bantu knot out, but more elongated.

what do you guys think about that?

Have you tried Banding? All it takes is ponytail holders.

Definitely co-signing on the banding. It works like a charm!

As Lynnieluve suggested, it can be time consuming but I think that size would cut down on the time and may even be quicker than banding. The woman in the YT video (Romogirl) has relaxed hair. That doesn't mean that the technique will not work on natural hair, I just wanted OP to know because I don't remember if RomoGirl mentions it in the video (I saw it in her comment).
I have the Extra Wide CFs and they do help smooth my hair. I have used other sizes, but I chose the widest CFs to give me waves vs. tight spirals and I wanted to be able to insert the CFs quicker. I use Jane Carter Wrap & Roll for hold. Think roller set without the pins, but I don't think it is necessarily easier.

i bought the magic leverag ones on ebay. they are the same size as curlformer long and wide, and short and wide. but, they way it is sold is weird. ( 9 long and 9 short in a pack). it was 3.99 a pack. i bought 5 packs ( enough short for one head, and enough long for one head) ended up being 19.95
i ordered From china, so i bet it will take lik 2 wks to get here.

I think its a smart idea, because every curlformer for natural hair video, ive seen, they always talk about how stretched and straight there hair is.. and to me curlformers seem easier. and i would only being doing them once a week

I use curlformers to stretch my hair all the time. I wash, condition and what not then put in curl formers, air dry and then twist/braid or bun. I do them once a week its part of my routine. I love the technique.

I'm not sure what you mean by changed my styling? I use curlformers to stretch because I have them on hand and having my hair stretched (particularly the ends) helps keep my hair from tangling.
