My Ends are See Through :(

Hi Ladies!
I am new to the forum here and new to the natural hair thinga ma jig..yea`
Background: So I`ve been natural all my life I just remained hot combed & weaved up! I`m going through some kind of phase can`t put my finger on it but I`m EMBRACING MY NATURAL HAIR ahhh` I love it!

AnyWHO..I have A MAJOR PROBLEM MY ENDS ARE PRATICALLY SEE THROUGH

Ladies what should I do..
First I know I should trim..but I feel as if I trim my hair will be uneven all over..
I need advice should I get my hair cut in a style..even all over or....
I`m very unsure..

Those are probably heat damaged ends from your hot combing days. The only solution is to cut them off. You don't have to cut all your hair just the damaged ends. Your hair will probably look fine once they are gone...if not then you can try a bigger cut if that's what you want.

Hi KissMyKinks!!! And welcome to CN. Yes you DO need your ends trimed. Anytime they are see thru like that it is time for the ends to be cut!!! But getting your hair in a style depends on how you will wea your hair. If you wear it straight then that would be fine. But if you wear it curly then it wouldn't matter if you get it cut in a style. But good luck whatever you do!!

Ok I had to change my answer. I went back and looked at your hair...I don't think I'd cut it myself.

Well, I cut my ends myself ALL the time. What I do is trim it while it's all in twists. I usually just clip about a 1/4inch off. Sometimes I will flat iron it to trim it too. When I do it that way I just section it into about 4 sections and then clip. This was taken a couple weeks ago and my hair was trimmed by me a couple weeks before that. I think that's a decent job.
I say save the money if you think you can do it yourself!!

if i were you i would do a protein treatment first to see if anything can be salvaged. spend 2-3 weeks giving your hair some tlc then after that cut

I agree with blkbeauty..spend a couple weeks giving yourself protein treatments and deep conditioning..you might be able to save some of those ends with some good conditioning..
now if there split ends and damaged ends then yea a trim is a must

From looking at your picture i would get a trim by a professional.
There's nothing else that will help those thin ends so a trim is needed.
Once you get your trim you'll be amazed at how fast your hair will grow and
how thick it will look. Also limit the amount of times you put heat on your hair.

You might have to cut them eventually but you can hold on to those ends for a while if you choose just deep condition , protein treatment keratin treatment i also heard that beer rinses help as well than let your hair grow a few more inches than trim the ends gradually as they grow oh and welcome to the dark side lol jk

I personally wouldn't trust my hair to a "Professional" unless they are familiar with natural hair or I was doing a big chop! I like doing the twist and trim method (in fact I need to do it now). You can easily see where the frayed ends are and take off as little as you want until your ends curl up in the twists.

I'd get them cut and by a professional. No need to hold on to damaged hair.

MissKris! Thanks a whole lot! Whew saved me some money && my beautician said she would only trim my ends if it was pressed and I`m avoided heat for this whole year! I`m gonna invest in some shears!

Ok..I`m practicing no heat at all this year! Im gonna do protective styling thinkin about curly lace wigs ahh* But now Im confused on either trimming myself of professionally & my beautician refused to do it unless I had it pressed out..Should I shop around for more stylists?

The VERY dark side haha! But Beer rinses?? explain or should I look it up on the forum..
But I think I will just deep condition etc..&& keep those lil ends until my hair grows out just a tad bit more b/c I do not wanna lose alot of length from the look of my ends I will if they have to be cut. Thanks for your help!

Youre welcome i saw a video on youtube this young lady was natural and suffered heat damage and she said she did a couple of beer rinses and it somewhat helped a bit her name on youtube is Jerseystylez
