I have seen it in Walmart (in the food section), Walgreens, and Kroger.

I bought mine from Whole Foods.

Yep, just good ol organic coconut oil. I was surprised to see that Walmart had the organic kind. In the grocery stores it's also located in the organic section.

Make sure you get unrefined...usually the coconut oil in the cooking section will be refined and/or fractionated.

You want the good stuff.

Yes, it's the Spring Valley brand. I'm checking the bottle now and it says Made with organic extra virgin coconut oil. I don't know if its weird, but I looooove the smell too. lol!

@Niqui36 I get my coconut oil at Whole Foods, I buy the "Now" brand and it's unrefined which is the best. I love using it not only in my hair by as a moisturizer for my skin.

I don't have a Whole Foods near where I live. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Now is unrefined different from extra virgin? I've seen unrefined coconut oil on ebay and I've been tempted to buy some.

@Mine is organic too but you want to make sure its unrefined which means it's in it's pure form, with no added chemicals or fragrances, etc. When you get it, set aside a small plastic container with a lid on it and scoop some out to use. If you put your fingers in the jar it comes in repeatedly, over time the scent will become contaminated and loose it's scent. So just set some aside on reserve to use and then scoop it out of the jar as you use it.

Good idea! I try not to put my fingers in it but the lower it gets, the more I find myself doing just that. I sent another reply but I don't see it on here. I was just saying that I actually don't have a Trader Joe's or The Vitamin Shoppe nearby. I just googled it to see. But we have a Harvest Health store that sells "Now" brand veggie glycerin, jojoba oil, etc. So I'm gonna see if the also have the coconut oil you mentioned.

Soooooo, I have coconut oil by Kuza that I purchased from the CVS. It contains petrolalum, mineral oil, coconut oil, paraffin.....

In reading the above statements, I have purchased the wrong kind. Correct?!

Thanks, I am a newbie and am trying to get a routine together. Shocked

@amdjem...I'm not going to say what you purchased was bad, just keep in mind that unrefined Coconut oil, Shea butter, Cocoa butter is always better because it's in it's purest form, (natural)!

Okay thank you Loveself 247 (love the name!) So when I get the unrefined form, then do I just rub it in my hair. I hear folks talking about "sealing the hair". What exactly is this?

Sealing is exactly what it sounds like. It's a process in which you are sealing moisture into your strands. Over time you will discover how your strands like to be sealed. I have seen some naturals that like to use only oil to coat their ends while others like to apply a water based moisturizer and then an oil to seal.
