Thank you, Kea::curls.
That's cool for you because you are all natural already. And you probably have all your staples in place. So you can flirt.
Flirt on girl because your curls are just MARVELOUS !!!!

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
So like I said before I pooed then applied Amla and Shikakai powder mixture. Wait then rinsed after 45 mins. DC with DEVA Heaven sent condish but you will never believe what I did. I fell asleep for 5 hours with that in my hair . What in the world was I thinking!!! I rinsed it out and the hair felt terrible. Just course and rough. I was not happy so I rinsed out more with devaone condish. I sprayed mixture of lottabody and water over entire head. It seemed like my hair was super absorbant. I was dry within 1/2 hour. Weird. It was also very frizzy, more than before. So I reached for my HE hydralicious because I wanted a smooth roll then apply my whipped shea butter in sections as I rolled the hair. It took sooo long and I had to be soooo careful. The hair was soooo thick, especially in the back. Oh, I also noticed that I cannot really squeeze out the water from my hair anymore. I really cannot explain what I mean by that. I dont know if that is natural hair or just me.
Anyway, for my facial instead of using what I said I would use. I put the amla and shikakai, evoo and rosewater on my face (dont ask). I left that on for 30 mins and rinsed my skin was clear but irritated by the skikakai. So when I decided to read the package, it said nothing about facial use . OK . I then DC my face with aloe and honey for 20 mins then rinsed and added evoo for moisture. FABULOUS!!!!
HERE ARE FACIAL PICS FIRST:
THIS IS THE MIXTURE THAT I USED ON MY FACE AND HAIR. CREAMY PASTE...YUM..LOL
THE APPLICATION:
THEN ONCE IT DRIED ON, IT TURNED DARKER:
HERE IS A FUNNY CLOSE UP SO YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE SKIN (EXCUSE THE EYEBROWS, I AM GROWING THOSE IN TOO)
NOW HERE ARE MY HAIR PICS. THIS IS THE MIXTURE IN MY HAIR
THEN 2 PLASTIC CAPS AND MY TOWEL TURB:
MY MODIFIED AFRICANLATINA'S WHIPPED SHEA BUTTER MIX:(PRETTY AINT IT...LOL)
HAIR WITH DC
HAIR AFTER 5 HOURS OF SLEEP IN DC (NEVER AGAIN)
ROD LIKE ROLLER SET PICS:
RAN OUT OF ROLLERS....LOL

Hello there! I am sorry you had a couple of mishaps. Your skin looks great. I hope to get there one day.
What is in the Deva heaven sent condish? If your hair is super absorbent, it may be overly porous. One way to help is to use moisturizing products and seal with a moisturizing oil. I know it is an oxymoron for some but coconut oil and jojoba oil are said to be two oils that also have moisturizing properties.

Thanks Chrs
I would love to test my hair porousity (spell check) but I do not know how to test the hair. Curlynikki had the curl whisperer on. But I really didnt understand how to do it. I heard yopu can put a strand in water and something?????
Anyway, I used a moisturizing leave in and sealed with whipped shea/oil mix. So I should be goood. Didn't take out the curlers yet. When I do I will moisturize scalp with Jane Carter's nourish and shine then gently place curls.
I will show pics later.

You will be able to use Hello Hydration after you BC so that makes sense to use the other stuff up first.

One way is to do the float test. You can take shed hairs and place them in a cup of water. The quicker they sink, the more porous your hair. The shorter time it takes to sink, the less porous. Porous hair is damaged since the cuticles are raised. One way to keep the cuticles down is to do ACV rinses and cold water rinses after co-washing, DC'ing and conditioning.
Another way to to take shed hairs and rub your fingers up from the end to the root of the individual strands. In doing so, you will feel the raised cuticles if your hair is porous. If you do not feel the raised cuticles, your hair is normal.
Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Oh Chrs, the name of the DC I used was DEVACURL HEAVEN IN HAIR intense moisture treatment. Very expensive. I really do not think it's worth the money.
Also I tried to test the porousity by the float method. My hair strand did just that Float. So I really do not know what that means. The snap test went well though. It always does.
@Corygentri, I hope I can....lol

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
The hair looks GREAT! It came out really nice. It looks so soft. I know you fell asleep with the mixture in it so I hope you were able to counteract that. On the previous page I really liked the French Roll... I need a tutorial. I have never been successful with French rolls.
Also, you skin is so beautiful. I am going to have to give some of these skin treatments a try. My skin is sooo sensitive and I am always afraid to put new products on it. But I really like your skin, I may have to give it a try .

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Hey HumanNature, thanks for the compliments.
My french roll secret is a comb. You know, one of those clear little combs. Usually they have decor attached to them but I like the clear ones. Your hair looks very soft, so you may have to stuff the roll for it to stay, maybe an old piece of hosery(spell check). Or maybe an old braid out, because it is better when the hair is a little stiff.
My skin regimen is simple and constant. I have noticed natural products are the way to go. But the discovery of amla has been just FABULOUS!!! And it is very inexpensive and lasts a long time if you are only using it on your face. Amla is high in vitamin C, which helps with antiaging properties among other things. But I would say try a little bit on a small portion of your skin. Just add water the first time then if you fine that irritating then add honey or evvo and try again. Trial and error again unfortunately, but once you get your mix. You got it. I also like multani powder, which is not so acidic and I also use orange powder. Keep me posted on how it goes.

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I just want to say I am loving the BIG SISTER thread on this blog. Lord knows I will need it once I BC....LOL. I am also liking the fact that there is going to be a long term transitioning guru on board.
Anyway, today is still messy curl day today. So in a ponytail it went.

Re: IntelligentBeauty;-)
Your curls look great "messy."
If your hair strand(s) floated, your outer layer of hair is healthy. If it sinks, the outer layer is open and will allow products to get in and out of your hair--unhealthy hair. The strands have to be in the water for two minutes.

Sidenote: Since I'm new to the forum, can someone tell be how to properly highlight texts from another post reply? I only know how to cut and paste but everyone has cute quote text boxes! Teach me! Teach me!
