Questions!!!! Empty Questions!!!!

Post by Jasy 2nd December 2010, 6:08 pm

Hey Ladies, I am 9 months post and I am just now starting to experiment with my hair. I recently bought an all natural rosemary and tea tree bar of soap and I wanted to know if I could use it on my hair. I am also curious about protien and moisture balance. Do you all have any tips on how to balance the two. I don't have a daily hair regimen either so I am willing to try anything. Thanks Smile

im also in transition and it has been 9 months Smile idk about the soap but i wash my hair with with black african soap because shampoos dry my hair out way too much ,
i don't really have a regiment from what i understand about moisture/protein balance our hair needs protein and you should always condition moisturize after a protein treatment i do 1 every 6 weeks if you are experimenting breakage etc than you should do 1 more often i suppose
As far as regimen i don't really have one i wear a lof of protective styles especially wigs so my hair is always cornrowed i wash every 2 weeks i moisturize daily with water and my whip shea butter every other day i seal with either wild growth or jojoba oil i use giovanni conditioner and leave in

Thanks a lot that's helpful. What kind of protien treatment do you use I am not experiencing any breakage really but I know that I still need to do a protein treatment. Also what are some of you other protective styles.

I haven't really made plans for it I cut an inch off about 3 weeks ago but i don't plan on doing the bc anytime soon. I'm just going to let me hair do its thing. I'm really kind of scared to chop it all off.

Hi Jasy!

I just wanted to add that you may not necessarily need something as potent as Aphogee unless your hair is damaged. My shampoos & conditioners(usually Aubrey Organics which are natural) all contain at least one type of protein. Also many conditioners offer both protein and moisture. In addition to Aubrey Organics, I have used Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Conditioner(soy & wheat protein) and David Babaii Hydrating Conditioner(blue algae protein).

What products are you using now?

Hi Jasy. I think the Rosemary soap would be fine for your hair. Especially since it says it's Vegand and 100% Natural. Rosemary is supposed to be very good for the hair/scalp, promoting growth. So I say use it and see how you like it.

Not too sure what to tell you about the protein treatments as I have never done one before. I wouldn't even know which products to recommend. I may try one one day when I figure out which one to use.

@FalconTress thanks for the product tips. I am using cantu shea butter as a leave in (I don't really like it though), I use olive oil replenishing conditioner by organic as a dc, I use herbal essence hello hydration conditioner. I have not used shampoo much but when I do I use nioxin scalp therapy shampoo the ingredients aren't all natural but I love the way thier shampoo and conditioner makes my hair feel. I also use various oils like olive oil, tea tree oil, and africas best herbal oil. I've recently purchased apple cider vinegar but I have yet to rinse with it im not really sure about how I should go about using it.

@misskris I tried the shampoo bar and I love it I am going to buy more of them they have different kinds of natural soap bars with different ingredients. I thought that it wouldn't get very suddy but I was wrong and it didnt leave my hair feeling stripped.

Here is the link to a great article about the protein and moisture balance. There is a hair test at the end of the article: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/278612/the_fine_art_of_protein_and_moisture.html?singlepage=true&cat=69
